Can you wash this out in water/ is it temporary? And does chlorine do anything to this dye?
- Asked by Lily
- Official Answer By Good Dye Young - Brand EngageSemi-permanent hair dye is considered temporary as it deposits color to the outer layer of the hair, and fades out with each wash. Our dyes are formulated to be most vivid and true to the color you see on the box over hair that is pre-lightened, and will last up to 24+ washes. We recommend you avoid prolonged contact with salt such as ocean water and sea salt sprays, chlorine, and water softeners as these can prematurely fade vivid color. You can apply a color-safe leave-in conditioner before water activities to help protect your vivid color a bit more. When you get out of the ocean or pool, rinse out your hair to prevent the salt or chlorine from sitting too long on those strands. Was this answer helpful to you

Good for color, not for conditioning
I like how much color this adds, though wouls not be great if you dont already have some highlights for it to grab on to. If not, it acts as a partial toner type color. It's advertised to use instead of a conditioner when using it and that is NOT true. It frizzes out my hair at the ends more than an...

I bought the red and the copper (on GDY website) cause I like to mix my Keracolor to match my salon dye and I'd love to try other products. It does what it's supposed to, depositing the extra color boost to maintain my deeper copper, and I feel like it does it a little faster and more vibrant than competitors. It absolutely does not condition, and using it regularly affects my hair poorly, stripping it and making it feel straw-like so you have to use a hair mask afterwards which costs more and brings me to the next point. The price is awful it's 4x for other products that do the same. The packaging is garbage too, it's super slippery and the formula is thick (which is nice) but the cap is cheap plastic and will break because of how annoyingly slow it comes out, or your hands will be dyed too. Your hands basically have to be dry while using it because trying to squeeze it when it's anything less than full will slip out of your hands. Which, the directions say to use it on wet hair (I use my conditioner in the shower like a normal person) and obviously you're going to have product on your hands do when you go to get a little more, it's for sure slipping out of your hands, crashing into the walls and painting them. Getting any product out when it's 1/2 full is a nightmare too. At least it smells nice? Not worth it though.
it's too expensive for what it is
it's a fine product. the copper shade is really beautiful. it is pigmented but looks more natural. it's just too expensive for what it is. I usually buy a semi permanent orange (mix with a bit of green to tone it down) and that is more vibrant, less expensive, and lasts longer. but I wanted to try this product. there is nothing really wrong with it, they are just overcharging for what it is.
Great as a tint for my untreated hair
First time ever dying my hair and thought I'd go with more of a tint on my ends as a start. I have about a level 7/8 hair so didn't bleach before applying. this was easy to use, smells great and it turned out nice! Applied dry and left on ~45 min.

It's advertised to use instead of a conditioner when using it and that is NOT true. It frizzes out my hair at the ends more than any product can seem to control. Fyi I have fine blonde highlighted hair
Really Good for Keeping Up Color
I use this product for when I'm in between dying my hair. It not only conditions my hair but it deposits a nice even amount of color but it is pretty pigmented so I'd suggest using gloves. And the color it leaves behind is like a 99% match for when I freshly dye my hair.
