Medium-Dark; This is my new go-to self tanner. I have tried many over the years and tanologist has always been the most natural on my skin tone, but the gradual lotion is my official favorite. I love it for an every-day natural look but still use the extra dark express mousse for vacay. The consiste...ncy is thin and a little goes a long way. The smell is nice. Little to no DHA smell. Pretty fool proof and easy to fix mistakes since it is gradual. I use the Medium to Dark two nights in a row and it's enough color for me although you can certainly continue to build. I tried a couple different application methods. 1. Bare hands (orange palms even after washing) 2. Latex gloves - not bad! But I wasn't getting a smooth blend into my hands. The product sort of gathered around my wrist and created a line even though I used kabuki brush to blend. Also could be a little streaky if not careful. 3. A Mitt - I was hesitant to use the mitt because I was worried product would absorb into the glove and it would be a waste. I was also worried there would be too much friction. But this is now my tried and true! It gives the best results. I prep by scrubbing with st tropez tan eraser mitt even if I don't have old tanner on. This is a very important step! Maybe the most important! I then moisturize dry areas per usual (elbows, hands, ankles, feet, knees, and for me personally I have to put some around my armpits.) I then apply from bottom up. I'll do legs and then sweep over my feet but before the lotion dries I rub a kabuki brush into the mitt and blend around my toes. I do my hands last and do the same thing - use the mitt but use the kabuki brush to blend and swirl before it dries. Between fingers and that area between thumb and pointer finger. I also take it down into my wrist to blend. This method with this lotion makes my hands look SO good. I have struggled with perfecting the hands for so long so I am very proud of this haha. I do this before bed and if I wake up and my elbows are a little dark - like they tend to be - I just take the tan eraser mitt and scrub a little and it evens out. I typically apply two nights in a row and I'm good to go for the rest of the week. Picture shown is two coats! I will use just one in the winter for a subtle glow.
