Most Helpful Positive Review Love the PMD Clean I'm 55 and have been using just wash clothes for years to clean my face. I heard this came out and had to try it. I've learned to really care for my skin in the last year and love how it gently cleanses my skin, but you can really feel the difference in how smooth it is. I'm a big fan of serums and so I love that I can use the back of the PMD Clean to really massage them in too. As a middle aged woman, I'm really happy with the results this product gives.
Most Helpful Critical Review If you can't say anything nice… That's the way I was raised. If you have nothing nice to say, just don't say anything at all. So, on the occasions when I leave reviews, they're positive ones. But I wish someone has warned me about this thing. If you dive deeply enough in reviews on various sites, you'll find plenty that mention the issues I've had. I received this "tool" in a subscription beauty box, so didn't do the research I normally do when purchasing anything for my skin. I wish I had done the research before, rather than after, using it.
Please note, I realize not everyone will have similar results, as is clear by all the positive reviews. But if I can save one person the misery I've been through, then I want to do so.
I understand the concept of your skin "purging." 100%. I've certainly experienced it when changing up my skin routine. But this was—is—ridiculous. I did not change my cleanser, toner, moisturizers, or serums the entire time I used this PMD tool. Literally the ONLY thing that changed was the addition of this cleansing tool. And it destroyed my skin.
I'm STILL trying to clear up the breakout that started while I was using this. PMD said the purging window can last up to a month. Okay. Fine. I gave it a month. And then six weeks. Then I threw it away. When I say I broke out, I mean I broke out in cystic acne, which I have never, ever had. The acne was so sore and actually hot to the touch. Some mornings I woke up with 5-10 new bumps. I've never seen anything like it. My husband was pushing for me to see a doctor because in seven years, he'd never seen me with a pimple and suddenly I was covered in them. It was so severe, he truly thought it must be a sudden onset medical condition!
It's now been several weeks since I stopped using the cleansing tool. The improvement was immediate, but the breakout was so severe, I'm still pampering my skin to get it back to normal. I've even gone so far as to spend $60 on a specialty pillowcase to help soothe my skin. Given the level of the breakout, I consider myself lucky I only have a few scars so far. THAT'S how bad it was.
My advice is this: if you decide to give this a try, and you find yourself breaking out in an unusual way, don't assume it's a normal skin purge.

This is something I didn't know I needed. I have so many face gadgets, I really didn't see how this could be any different than the Clarisonic. It's totally different. I wasn't sure I'd be crazy about the battery operation, but I love that I don't have to charge it / keep another cable somewhere. The battery also seems to last a while, I still haven't swapped mine out. Overall, one of my favorite face gadgets (pro tip: I buy everything on sale). I prefer to use it with Elemis Cleansing Balm. The balm can be used as a mask, it slides around so perfect and it's incredibly relaxing using the scrubber and massage sides. The device also takes up so little space on the counter or in a drawer. 10/10 so glad I made this purchase. Absolutely something I didn't know I needed, but now don't want to do without.
I am pleased with this product. 5

I use this tool to wash my face thoroughly after my first wash. I love how my face feels after I am done. I also use this tool to apply my moisturizer.
Do not buy this 1

I use with facial soap, doesn't get into the face deep enough to scrub off dry skin
Fresh and clean 5
KERoss from Tucson, AZ
I bought this to clean and freshen my face since I don't wear makeup Easy to use and you can use in the shower, which is nice. The little cup to stand it up in isn't super stable, but it's not a big deal.
Been Using 2x a Week for Three Weeks 4

I received mine in a subscription box, otherwise I probably would not have purchased from (or heard of) this brand. I haven't used any cleansing devices before but was aware of a couple long standing brands. Never really thought they were worth the price tag so I didn't really bother looking further into them. So far I do enjoy using this, I don't feel comfortable using it more than a couple times a week at night but it feels wonderful when you get used to it.
The device has two modes that are a constant vibration, but my only issue with that is the most "gentle" of the two is still pretty strong, and I get that it's supposed to be a deep cleansing device but I have not been able to use the second option at all yet as it's too strong and kind of made me dizzy when I tested it once. The other ones are nice but I've only used the third option (I believe) as a way to massage a serum near my shoulders at the base of my neck and it felt really nice. I wouldn't use this right on your neck as that seems way too rough but like I mentioned it does feel very nice near the base of your neck close to your shoulders, like a massage.
I don't press particularly hard with the silicone bristle side, mainly because the vibration is really strong. While this is marketed for everyday use, just from my own experience, I would ease into it and start maybe two times a week and adjust from there. I haven't experienced any dramatic purging but I'll leave another review if I do. Since this is a deeper clean, I only use a basic moisturizer with this (just basic Cetaphil) even thought I use it at night, I use the same cleanser as day time (Neutrogena Hydro Boost). I'll use a serum underneath the moisturizer (I pat that in with my hands) and only use the third option on the PMD for a massage near my shoulders with the same serum. A couple times I noticed I used too much moisturizer afterwards and so I lightly dabbed/blotted my face with a soft towel to absorb any extra and that seemed to fix that. There's definitely a learning curve but I do enjoy it so far.
The device is easy to clean because it is silicone and I appreciate the inclusion of a stand, however I would gladly pay five or seven dollars for a better stand that would not wobble or topple over when you put the PMD in it, especially since it barely holds mine up at all. I don't actually use the stand, it's just too flimsy and small. I keep my PMD in a plastic container after I wipe it dry, but again I would love to purchase a better designed stand for ease of storage and space.
Overall I would absolutely recommend this product, but be ready for a learning curve and some trial and error, as well as using a lighter moisturizer alongside this one.
I love this thing 5

I received this as a gift. I love it! it takes away the texture. I use it first thing in the morning. Sometimes I use it for taking off makeup, before I wash my face. I love the serum option on the other side.
I just don't get the hype... 3

I received this in my Ipsy box and was really excited... honestly, I don't get it! The nubbies are very short and just don't feel like they're scrubbing my skin clean at all. I've also never seen any makeup in the brush which concerns me because all my other cleansing brushes get makeup in them... then there's the vibrations. The first setting is the only one I can stand on my face. All the other settings are way too strong and hurt my bones and give me a headache.... I'm honestly so surprised no one has said this but it looks AND sounds like a personal massaging device, if you catch my drift lol. maybe that's what PMD stands for? IDK, but it probably works better for that use than for a facial cleansing device!!!
not worth it 3

have face and body ones from pmd and neither are there yet hopefully they're working on changes, if not they should. doesn't do anything for exfoliation it's very short the bristle (like) end. feel no more clean than using my hands.
We had a good 3 months 3
Crystal from Michigan
The cleaning capability was nice and also the forceful vibration is powerful but it didn't last. The battery seemed to run out faster than usual after three months and after recharging the device for the recommended time (3 hours), it would mainly malfunction either not powering on or never turning off. After fighting with trying to turn it off in every way possible, it finally ran out of juice. Still again after charging for 3 hours, it never woke up. I would recommend not waste your money, unless you need a vibrating cleanser for a short amount of time.
Purchased my Second! 5
Holly from Colorado.
I've used Clarisonic and other brush cleansers in the past but this is so gentle and I just adore it. I don't put cleanser on the pmd though. I apply my cleanser to my face and then use the pmd atop that. It's low maintenance as well, which I love.

I just absolutely love this tool. Much easier to use than my old foreo and much my hygienic than the Clarisonic. It leaves my dry but acne prone skin feeling clean but not irritated. Couldn't ask for a better cleansing tool
This won't replace your Foreo or Clarisonic 2
Meena from Orlando, FL
I had been interested in the PMD for about a year after seeing a lot of the subscription boxes include them. I recently got on in my Fab, Fit, Fun box as a selection I chose and I'm incredibly disappointed in this product. I've owned both a Clarisonic and a Foreo and other less-well-known brands of skincare devices – none have been as disappointing as this one, honestly. As others have said it comes with zero instructions (are we just supposed to trial and error what the modes are?), the "stand" for it is just a cheap plastic cup, and the vibrations are unbelievably AGGRESSIVE and uncomfortable on the face. There is no "gentle cleansing" with this device, and the silicone nibs are significantly larger than on Foreo so they don't feel like they're actually helping to clean my skin at all. I would recommend saving your money by skipping this and trying Foreo instead.
Not What I Wanted 3
bcjames from Cincinnati
I bought this product to replace my Clarisonic hoping it would be able to duplicate the level of clean I had come to expect from my Clarisonic. Unfortunately, that's not the case. While the surface of my skin feels very clean, this product leave my pores feeling and looking clogged. I've been using this for 6 months now and I like it much better for my serums than a cleansing devise.
Great Facial Cleanser 5

Gifted by PMD Beauty|I love to use this during my nightime routine. My favorite cleansing mode is the intense vibration and my favorite anti-aging mode is the intense pulsation. You can see a difference in your skin within a week!
YES! And I am buying two more as gifts. 5

Good fit in the hand. Love that it is battery operated. I use to first clean my face. Then to apply my moisturizer.
do you need it, no. Is it relaxing, sure. 3

I was debating getting the PMD for almost a year. When it was on sale on the days of beauty, I finally caved. If you're debating if you need it or not, the answer is no. It is a nice addition to a little skincare spa night once and a while and it does depuff, but not any better than a jade roller or ice cube.
love this 5

if you're like me, then you have oily yet very sensitive skin. anything you do or use, just causes breakouts in hours of applying. I used this brush twice a day with an aveeno cleanser and knock on wood ... but it seems to be diminishing my acne problem. ladies, gents, whoever is buying this, do it
Horrible 1

The only positive thing I can say about this is that it is easy to clean. Other than that, this makes no difference at all. I used it several times and I think that my hands do better job this device. Got this as a gift from a friend.
The Best! 5

I purchased this during the 21 days of beauty sale and don't regret it. I love that it has multiple different settings. My face feels so clean and fresh after using it. It's very gentle and works great!
New fav 5

I've had several Clarisonic over the years & I loved them. I just bought a new one before the company closed. When the PMD went on sale during Ulta's 21 day event, I decided to get one so I could try it out bc once this Clarisonic dies, I have to look for a new cleansing brush anyway.
Well, it's pretty much replaced my Clarisonic. I haven't used PMD too much for my moisturizers & serums yet, but it awesome for cleansing. Only drawback is that I have to use a liquid cleanser with it. With the Clarisonic I just used dove soap original bar (my grandma used this on her face her entire life. Her skin was beautiful. She also moisturized with vitamin e oil on the regular).
I like that the PMD doesn't have an auto shut off & there's a little holder so it's not laying on on of the heads. It's easy to clean & you don't have to charge it. Just change the batteries.
When it reaches the end, I'll buy one of other ones (or if they go on sale first).
Very poorly made 1

When my original ordered arrived the box that contained the device was damaged. Once I opened the box I noticed that there were no instructions which I thought was odd. I then attempted to put the battery in and close the base. The based is simply a piece of VERY cheap plastic with several flimsy prongs that are supposed to hold it in place. The base would not attach which made me realize that one of the prongs was already broken. Based on all the evidence, I assumed this product had been used and returned. Ulta very promptly sent me a replacement with no problem. When I received my new device, I realized that the product does not come with instructions (weird). This time I was able to put the battery in and I was actually happy with how the device worked. When the battery ran out, I attempted to replace it, and unfortunately, again, one of the prongs that holds the battery base in broke off again. I returned it to Ulta today and will be purchasing a different brand. I realized that the first one I received was probably not used, but again, just a very cheaply made product. Extremely disappointing and honestly, shocking how cheaply made this product is.
Loved it! 5

I had been wanting to try it but it was rather expensive so when it was on sale for 21 days of beauty it was like the stars aligned. I've been using it for about two weeks and I can definitely see a difference than only using clean hands. I can see the dirt come off my face and stick to the tool (don't worry it washes off easily). Right now my skin is definitely purging so that combined with hormonal acne I've got some hot spots. But I have high hopes for this since I've already noticed a difference in the texture of my skin

It's fast & easy even when your tired. I never try to ski washing my face before bedtime. Your skin turns over when you sleep. I feel it's important to have a fresh clean face with sufficient moisturizer & eye cream before sleeping. I put the cleaning solution on the unit after I threw some water on it to create an easier pass they all over my face.

I had high hopes for this considering the price but its okay. You can achieve the same thing with a cheaper option. f
Feels nice when using for serum/moisturizer but that about it.
