Highlights
Summary
Clinique’s Clarifying Face Lotion 1 is a mild exfoliating lotion for very dry skin. Dermatologist-developed formula sweeps away dulling flakes.
Benefits
- Skin Types: Very Dry to Dry
- Sweeps away pollution, grime, dulling flakes to reveal smoother, clearer-looking skin.
- Preps skin for moisturizer - exfoliated skin is more receptive to hydration and treatment products.
- For drier skin types, exfoliation whisks away surface flakes, clearing the way for moisturizer.
- For oilier skin types, twice-daily exfoliation helps minimize excess oil and keep pores clear.
- Dermatologist developed and tested
- Allergy tested
- Fragrance free
- How does Clarifying Lotion fit into your skincare routine? Clarifying Lotion is Step 2 in Clinique's 3-Step skincare system. Cleanse with Facial Soap, exfoliate with Clarifying Lotion, moisturize with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+, oil-free Gel, lightweight Jelly, or rich Cream.
- Clinique Clarifying Lotion is available in 5 skin-typed formulas. Which formula is just right for your skin?
- Clarifying Lotion 1.0: Extra-gentle, alcohol-free formula is safe for sensitive skin.
- Clarifying Lotion 1: Mild for very dry skin.
- Clarifying Lotion 2: Gentle for dry combination skin.
- Clarifying Lotion 3: Great for combination oily skin.
- Clarifying Lotion 4: Formulated for oily skin.
- Did you know Clinique's exfoliating lotion is different from a toner?
- Toners are primarily used to help rebalance skin after cleansing. Clinique Clarifying Lotion is formulated with exfoliating ingredients to help remove dead cells on skin’s surface. Clearing away that debris with Clarifying Lotion makes skin more receptive to moisturizer and treatment products.
Key Ingredients
- Acetyl glucosamine: Helps balance and smooth skin.

Check all ingredients !
I grabbed this off the shelf in Ulta the other day, thinking it was similar to the sensitive version. Got home and read the ingredients, not only isn't it close to the other but it had ethylene diamene in it and other NON-FDA approved chemicals. Do your homework, and your research and see if this is...

Great product, but maybe rethink the bottle?

This works well on my aging, dry combination skin. It isn't drying and seems to do the job of exfoliating well. I removed a star because the bottle isn't a dropper cap, like with toners or other exfoliants. More than once I've turned it over and accidentally dumped out a bunch of product because I forgot that it's just a full bottle opening. Waste of product and a mess. Add a plastic disc to the end with a small hole like other products and this would be 5 stars easily.
Redness GONE
This has definitely helped with my pink undertone! Also I get zits that pop up every now and again, helps clear them up even faster!

This toner smooths my skin and makes it glow without drying it out. I follow the toner with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream and my skin is very happy!

I've used clarifying Lotion 1.0 and 1 depending on the dryness of my skin. I've been struggling with acne this summer but I feel my skin is still dry. Which clarifying lotion would you recommend?
- Asked by Heather
- Official Answer By Clinique USThank you for your great question! If you have persistent acne with 3 or more pimples regularly, we recommend the Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion, as it will help to treat and prevent acne more effectively. In addition, the higher level of exfoliation can also help with dryness, as it allows your moisturizer to absorb more easily and work more effectively. Add an oil free moisturizer to prevent dryness as well. Moisture Surge 100 Hour Auto Replenishing Hydrator is a great option.
