Easy, Breezy, Blondey
I received this product complimentary from dpHUE in exchange for my honest opinion. I have had color treated hair for half of my life. Although I have dyed and bleached my hair many colors, I always return back to blonde. I know many others with color treated hair will agree with me that sometimes there's just a color that matches your soul. So after being blonde for so many years, I'm always cautiously optimistic when I discover a new blonde specific product. Let me tell y'all, the dpHUE brightening powder is great! The included instructions tell you to use one packet immediately after shampooing, work the powder form into a paste, then work it through your hair for five or so minutes. Easy enough right? Anyone with long or thick hair is going to use two, I'll just tell you now and spare you the trouble. It initially feels a bit gritty on the hair, but that feeling dissipates as you work it through. There is definitely a bit of a smell to the brightening powder while it is on your hair in the shower, a bit reminiscent to a subtle citrus cleaner perhaps. It's not necessarily bad, but it threw me off personally. It's super easy to wash out, and post-shower my hair felt clean and especially smooth but I'll attribute that partially to deep conditioner. Now that my hair is dry, I think it looks noticeably brighter! I noticed slightly less brassy/yellow tones in my hair, but nothing drastically different. This product will not lighten your hair so save that one for the professionals. All in all, I think my hair looks healthy, happy, and bright! I definitely enjoyed using this product, and I think I'll continue to do so in the future.
Great idea, not great results
I was gifted this powder complimentary from dpHue in exchange for my honest opinion. I have natural dark blonde hair with full light and baby blonde highlights. I used chelation shampoos in the past, but this product is unique - you shampoo, then pour one sachet of powder in your hand and mix with a bit of water. The instructions don't say how much water to use, so I added enough to make it a liquidy paste. It was very easy to apply and foamed up a lot, making it very easy to spread. If you've used Christophe Robin's sea salt scrub, it's a very similar action; you think it will be difficult due to the texture but it's actually a breeze. I left the product on for 5 minutes and followed with conditioner after rinsing the product out, per the instructions. The product rinsed out very easily and my hair actually felt a little softer/more hydrated than it usually does after I rinse out shampoo. Since the pandemic I've been air drying my hair, so it took a bit to see the results, and they were...disappointing. I really hate to say it, but my highlights actually look a bit more brassy. I have moderately hard water, so I was hoping for better results. My hair feels a little thicker which is a plus, although not one advertised. It's possible others will have a better experience, and maybe it's just something with my hair or water, but if it's possible to try this before you buy, I'd recommend it.
Love BUT makes my hair break and fall out
Love the brightening but this stuff RUINED my hair. Lots of breakage and falling out.
If my daughter loves it, it's good
Daughter loves it
Brightened balayage highlights
So much so that people have been telling me my hair got lighter. Also leaves hair feeling very soft—not drying. Just wish there was a little more per packet. But so worth it, still. Forever repurchase.
Just what I needed
I have bleached hair with a dark root. I get my roots done very 5 weeks for with 4N to cover the gray. Each time I this done it dulls my blonde a bit. This past time it was definitely dulled and a bit too ashy for me. My stylist usually gives me a glass after but this time she didn't. I used this brightening powder for 5 minutes and my hair is back to a beautiful bright blonde! It didn't not affect my dark roots at all, my hair is also super shiny! I highly recommend this product
Great product for blondes
So the first time I tried this I used it wrong-I didn't make enough of a paste with the crystals and it didn't do much. But I did it right this time and wow does it work great! I have really hard water and it has been taking it's toll on my highlights. My hair went from flat, dull and lifeless to bright, soft and gorgeous. My highlights are brilliant! I look forward to using this every other week and can't wait to see how it helps my professional treatments.
