Most Helpful Positive Review Just what I needed! So I recently started using a new hydrating foundation that I've been obsessed with, however I noticed my face was starting to break out with continued use. Fortunately, I was able to find this primer to wear under the foundation--and it works perfectly! I used it for a couple of days and my acne started going away and there weren't any more breakouts--yay! It functions great as a primer, but make sure that you've completely blended it out as it is of course a different formula from the rest of the e.l.f. primers.
Most Helpful Critical Review grainy product I love elf but this product was terrible i put it on and it turned grainy I couldn't put foundation over or concealer

Made my makeup peel and clump up. I could literally use it as a makeup remover cause that's what it did.
Don't let bottle color fool you 2
LC from MI
I bought this thinking it would serve the same purpose as green tinted concealer but it's just the color on the bottle - it's the same cakey/flakey primer, just with Salicylic Acid in it. Better off buy a different primer and a color corrector for red spots.
Magical stuff 5

I've been using this for about 2 months and I have no idea what is in here but it's working. I used to have breakouts very often and it gets worse around that time of the month. But this primer OMGGGGG it's amazing. It keeps my skin clear and smooth. I always tell people that this is what I use to keep my skin clear.
Doesn't make you oily 5
ARM from Waterford, MI
I like this coverage. Usually primers make me oily and greasy looking. But it goes on real smooth and doesn't have any side effects once its on. A+
Stings on eyes 4

It's great acts just like the other elf primers It stings slightly on your eyes so be cautious about that.
I've been LOVING this for Summer! 5
Mo Makeup Please from VA
I have been using this every time I wear makeup and I absolutely LOVE it. During the Summer because my pores are more open from sweating, I usually have a breakouts. I bought this and the Putty Primer with salicylic acid and they work great together. I believe this was actually has more salicylic acid than the putty. I think this one is a 2% and the other is around 1.5 or 1.6 something.
awful 1
lilly from lancaster
It made my makeup look cakey and would peel, I threw it out right after trying it. instead buy the jelly pop primer or the mint melt primer.
not green 3
Alea from Troy
The tint of green reduces the appearance of red irritated blemishes. This container appears green but the actual primer is CLEAR... not happy about that part!!!
Primer is just clear salicylic acid 2%.
I'm going back to bare minerals blemish rescue primer at least that is actually has a green tint and does calm the skin.
Works great with dewy or natural finish foundation 4
K from Arizona
Probably pills up and peels under matte foundations/powders. I wear dewy or natural finish and only use setting powder under my eyes and have absolutely no issues with this.
It's okay… except starts to pill and peel 2

the primer isn't bad. it would be one of my favorites if it didn't just come right off in clumps…. usually i just deal with it to not be wasteful but i wouldn't recommend this to anyone if you have an option not to.
Great! 5
PDB from USA
Does what it says. It protects my skin from my makeup and seems to make it last. Even though it doesn't prevent my skin from getting oily throughout the day it does make it stay put despite this.

i love elf products which is why this product kinda stumped me. as i was putting it in the product started to flake and clump. i wanted to try this one because of the positive reviews but i guess i should stick with their "poreless" face primer!
Left my make up flaking and peeling off :( 1
Keiana from Florida
I had really high hopes for this product as I thought I could kill two birds with one stone by priming and getting acne treatment in to prevent break outs that might occur from clogged pores. However, this doesn't feel very light on my skin and is quite drying (considering it has salicylic acid, I don't know why I was surprised). I do have oily skin, but in putting this atop my usual moisturizer and under my make-up, it did flake and looked really weird up close (like I was peeling). Unfortunately, I don't recommend it and think I'll just stay clear of using "acne treatment" primers from now on. I really do like E.L.F's skincare products (especially bubble masks and essence), so I'd recommend just sticking to that than trying to do a "2 in 1" like I did.
My holy grail 5
Sam1007 from Pa.
Has horrible acne this is my favorite primer dries down to a slight tacky texture and cleared my skin completely. No more breakouts.
I'd buy again 3
Crissy from New York
It's an ok primer, not very heavy but kinda drying to me so look out if you have dry skin. It's not irritating though and you pretty much get what you pay for it's pretty affordable
Amazing product 5
JessAA18 from North Carolina
I have acne prone skin and this primer works wonders. It lasts all day and helps lessen my breakouts
Positive past experience 3
Riah from Dayton
I have used this product in the past before and have always loved it. However, this most recent time I purchased this primer I find it does not soak into my face, and stars to flake off when I put on my foundation.
Effective 5
BDunn from undisclosed
Without fail I always get tiny little white heads on my chin if I go out dancing or anything like that and am wearing foundation; this stuff completely prevents that; It even prevent that from happening at my very warm outdoor Florida wedding;one tip make sure you let it sink in before you put your make up over it
Caused my skin to peel and flake 2
Ehooey_1113 from North Carolina
Just bought this about two weeks ago, have used it maybe 3 times. Each time I put it on and then apply my cover up, my coverup does not stick what do ever. It has made my skin peel after applying my cover up. Anywhere I have acne the make up does not stick when I use this primer. I have used the same cover up for the last few months and it has never gotten Cakey and now i kept giving the primer a chance thinking it was me applying it wrong or just too much but it just does not cooperate with my skin or cover up. I have combination skin and figured I would be able to use it in the more oily spots on my face but it's just making it way worse and does not help adhere any make up. What does adhere get cakey and has made my skin flake and peel.
This is a must have! 5

This product I happened to stumble upon at rite aid. I figured it was cheap and worth a try since I was having issues with my foundation not really doing the greatest of all jobs. (I'm very fair and it's really hard to find my shade) plus having some blemishes it just wasn't covering well. Saw this and figured why not. I was soooo surprised at how well this worked. Not only did my foundation stick well to it and gave better coverage, it also greatly reduced creasing too! I've bought this multiple times now and it has become a staple in my routine!
My go-to primer that doesn't cause pimple outbreak 5
kaic from Montreal
I have a combination skin. Sometimes my face get very oily and sometimes very dry. I tried other primers and they often cause pimple breakout. This is the first one I tried that haven't caused anything for my skin. It has been my go-to primer ever since. Even after I wash my face, my skin still feels smooth. I know everyone's skin reacts differently. I am happy this works for me.
The peeling though... 1
Peyton from Plano Texas
Ugh. I usually NEVER write reviews but this product... It ain't it huntey. It peels like a face mask, ngl. I had such high hopes because all the other Elf primers are sworn by, but this primer fell so flat. Rip to Elf, my nose, my peeling foundation and the funky smell.
Terrible Chemical Burning 1
Jenna from Maryland
If you have combination skin and use this product please be careful. I happened to chemically burn my skin twice. The first time was completely my fault. The second—my skin under my eyes just could not handle it. My skin completely burned and I had to wait about 14 days for my skin to naturally come off. Terrible. The product does peel underneath of foundation as well.
Don't buy this! It made my foundation clump 2
Erica from Port Saint Lucie Florida
I put this on in a thin layer. I'm no stranger to makeup or primer. After putting on the primer it made my foundation clump and peel off my face. I'll be returning this. Not worth the hassle.
works, just not as a primer... 4
Chrissy from NJ
Let me start this off by saying I really like this "primer" so far. So, I put primer in quotation marks because there is absolutely no way I can use this as a primer. I mainly have breakouts centered around my forehead so that is typically the only place I put this stuff. I never put this anywhere else on my face because it pulls up really badly. I also don't wear foundation or any sort of makeup on my forehead (because of the acne) So I guess I like to use this as more of a skincare item than anything else. Other than that, I quite like this. Maybe try using it only in your nighttime skincare routine if you were planning on using this app over your face.
