Q
WHY HAS THIS PERFUME CHANGED IN SMELL ??
Asked by CLINQUE AROMATICS COLOGNE
Official Answer By Clinique US
Thanks for reaching out. First launched in 1971, Aromatics Elixir was our first ever fragrance and combines over 700 ingredients to create its unique scent. As part of our development process, adjustments may be made to different product formulations from time to time for a variety of reasons. We work closely with our fragrance experts to ensure that any ingredient fluctuations or changes align with the existing product’s olfactory attributes and that if any modifications are made, they are extremely slight. Despite this, certain loyal, long-time users may be able to detect even a slight change. If you would like additional assistance, we invite you to reach out to Consumer Care by email at ConsumerCare-SOC@gcc.clinique.com.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Why is your larger size, 3.4 oz a different lighter color than the 1.5 oz? Are they different formulas?

Q
Will the formula for Aromatics Elixir Perfume Spray ever revert to the original scent and potency? I have used the product for years. Within the last several years, at times, I have found what seemed to be the "correct" formula in the larger bottle. However, each time I purchased the smaller version it was not the same. Why has this happened. I have never known a fragrance to "change" chemically. I have know some to be "discontinued". Why has this change in fragrance occurred. I believe it should be fully explained and transparent; rather than continuing the "appearance" of the traditional fragrance. Quite disappointing. I have wasted quite a bit of money in my attempt to get the correct scent. For a time, I just thought there was a "mistake" of some kind. Now, however, I believe the consumer if being deceived. Why now just discontinue the fragrance line rather than trying to "dupe" unknowing long-time customers like myself?

Aromatics Elixir for Life

I am a loyal Aromatics user. I smelled it for the first time when I was 20 and I have been wearing it ever since - I'll be 54 in a few months. I am a 3-time cancer survivor (breast cancer in 1997 and 2006, and skin cancer in 2014) and Aromatics Elixir has a positive effect on my overall physical and...

I have worn this for twenty years plus! My favorite, signature scent, known for this smell. The last 2 years, no staying power. I mean within 20 minutes, no smell. Prior, would last all day, even longer on my clothes. Just purchased a bottle and the scent is a little off and does not even last 10 minutes. PLEASE bring back the old scent with the staying power!! Too many fragrances out there to choose from, will not purchase again unless you go back to the old formula.

This is not how I remember this smelling on my grandmother

I have been hunting for a new scent since my favorites were discontinued a number of years ago. I recalled my grandmother using this, but it smells nothing akin to what I remember and there is no way she would have worn something so foul and I do mean foul. You know when you are in an elevator and you get a headache from someone's perfume, this is it. I either got a rancid bottle or it is just worse than awful, I am not sure which. I would assume that Clinique keeps products in a temperature controlled environment and I intentionally waited until winter to order any scents via mail. I literally became nauseated by the perfume and had to get it off and wash what I had on when I put it on, just awful. I am surprised by this outcome, I like the Happy line and most of the products other than the discontinuation factor. I had stopped using Clinique for a long time because I got so disgusted with discontinued products, but I have gone back to Happy a few other products a number of times and I assumed I was safe with Aromatics due to its very long track record. I would have never strayed to other lines if the discontinuation factor was not so high, no idea why they bring in a new batch of 12 year old executives that feel the dire need to change products for no other reason to change products. I am guessing it is akin to Dell, you gotta have some project under your belt to rise through the ranks so there is constant flux for absolutely zero reason and it is often detrimental. Clinique has lost at least $100,000 on me alone due to the inability to exercise good sense when it comes to product discontinuation.

I agree with many comments here. I have worn this it came out. Early 70's. People would say to me I knew you were here as I smelled your perfume. Not in a bad way. People I knew would try it and it wasn't the same scent on them It definitely reacted to individuals body chemistry. It's not the same. Bring back the original. Please!

I heard a perfumer vlogger describe this as the Rolex of fragrances. Spot on. A retro earthy composition that is magical, sensual and comforting. When you're ready for this, you've arrived.
