Most Helpful Positive Review Soft waves My hair is naturally slightly wavy, fine, and has little volume. I wanted curl enhancement and body without frizz. I wash my hair every 2 days – so I needed products for the follow up day.
I had already been using Curlsmith Curl Quenching Conditioning Wash Shampoo and Double Cream Deep Quencher Conditioner. Sometimes I substituted a body shampoo (not a curling one) which did not make a difference in the outcome with the products below.
1. Curlsmith In Shower Style Fixer: Left my hair more curly (put on soaking wet curls) but a bit crunchy. It took forever to dry (if I wrapped it in a towel, it made it INsufficiently curly). Neutral scent.
2. Curlsmith Hold Me Softly Balm: Left my hair soft but not curly enough to hold much curl by the end of the day. Neutral scent.
3. Deva Curl Frizz-fighting volumizing foam: It definitely increased curls and gave the most volume. Volume is better with briefly using a diffuser, plus it takes forever to dry otherwise b/c you put it on dripping wet hair. Smell is neutral - better than products below.
4. Mixed Chick Morning After Foam: Put on dry hair on non-shower day, and it miraculously brought curl and bounce to my hair. Smell is just okay.
5. Ouai Wave Spray – I was disappointed with the amount of wave (I needed more). I also tried a diffuser briefly on it which helped volume a bit but left my hair frizzy and still without enough curl. Scent is not for me.
6. Ouai Air Dry Foam – Putting it on damp clean hair brought softer and less defined waves and less volume than Deva Curl, but my daughter thought it looked great with softer waves (rather than curls) Scent isn't great.
MY CONCLUSION: Deva Curl Frizz-Fighting Volumizing Foam gives me more curls and volume. Mixed Chick Morning After Foam helps so much that I can wash my hair every 3-4 days instead of every other day.
Most Helpful Critical Review Why do people love this? I put this in after towel drying as instructed, and let it air dry as I usually do. My hair turned into an untouchable frizzy nightmare. I tried a couple more times using different methods of styling, even though the description says you don't have to (like clips), and that didn't work either. My hair continued to look horrible. This stuff claims to be conditioning, but it's like any other mousse like product in that it started to dry my hair out within 2 days. As for smell, it reminded me of those unisex fragrances that were popular in the 90s. I usually love Ouai, but this was a big miss. Maybe it just doesn't work for my fine, wavy hair. I'll be returning it and going back to Sebastian's whipped creme, which worked a lot better (not perfect, but better).

Loved how it helped me style my hair!
Not Worth a Repeat Buy 2
Thick waves from Midwest
The product leaves hair softer without the crunchiness of normal mousse. However, it leaves a bit of a greasy feel. Within a couple weeks, the pump stopped working and now it's just liquid and unusable.
Not Sticky and works on Thick Hair 5
E. from California
This product implies well and allows for two or three days of soft curls on my thick, naturally curly/wavy hair without stickiness or crackling.
On trend beach waves 5
Sheshe830 from Plymouth, MA
If you crave tousled beach waves that are "Olsen sister-esq " then this is your product.
I have thick, course hair that I could never air dry , as it would become a frizzy, puffy mess.
This product has made it so when I air dry it now, I get that lived in wave look that is so coveted.
This is easily my new favorite product.

Great for straight hair 4
Sid from TN
I find that when my hair dries with this product, there is definitely less frizz, more shine and body, without the weight and "crunchieness" of other mousse-like products. If you are sensitive to heavy fragrances, however, the scent may be off-putting.
Best leave in for thick hair! 5

This product was so amazing! I apply it to wet hair then braid it, sleep on it then boom amazing non frizzy curly hair!
Not worth it 1

My hair would have dried the same way without the product.

Terrible component 2
Mal from Chicago
This stuff does what it says it does, but the component the product comes in spills and the foam can come out as liquid at times and just is very messy. For the price you'd think that wouldn't happen, wouldn't buy again just because of that.
Product okay, packaging is awful 3
kyrieaye from Cleveland
Product works fine. Waves aren't super wavy, but it does the trick. The package is HORRIBLE. The pump broke within a week of using it and it's comes out all liquid instead of foam.
Love! 5
Laura from South Carolina
I have VERY light waves in my hair. I put this in after I wash, scrunch it and let it go. It looks so good and I get lots of compliments. Awesome beachy look. No crunch! Can absolutely wash and go! I love their entire line!
Didn't Work 3
Ashley from Fairbanks, AK
Did the opposite for my hair. Made my waves straighter vs defining them. I returned it.
No curls here! 2
Cynthia from FL
I applied it exactly was described and did not have the effect intended. It just made my hair look dry and frizzy.
Awesome 5

Love the way my hair looks and easy to use
No crunch 5
RayRay from Nashville
I tried this foam bc I've always had straight hair, but lately it seems my hair is changing, so I researched and it said this was a good product. It delivers no crunch texture, and helps my wave be natural. A little bit of my hair is not naturally wavy, but I still think this is a great product bc it helps with the part that is wavy. Def like it.
I am on my 4th bottle of this stuff! 5
CA from Jacksonville and Orlando FL
This is a great product if you have looser curls. My hair air dries with bounce and is soft. Not matted down and crunchy from my curl gel. HOWEVER, this is no match for high humidity places. You will still need to use your normal humidity stuff (the aforementioned curl gel). I can tell you that it works well with Ouidad humidity gel. I don't know about other humidity products.
Love it 4
Abby from Corpus Christi Texas
I use the product on towel dried hair. But I'm not sure if I wash my hair at the end of the day or just wake up the next day and wet my hair and reapply product? Haven't mastered the use just yet but I'm still happy with it.
Please make a fragrance free version! 3
Derby from Woodland, CA
The scent is nice but SO heavy. I was hoping the scent would fade after drying, but no. I don't wear perfume, because I can be sensitive to scents and am conscious of other people who are more sensitive. This is like I've applied an excessive amount of perfume. I probably won't finish my bottle. However, if you don't mind heavy heavy scents, it's nice. Any crunch is easily scrunched out and it's not sticky.
Terrible for fine hair 1
Justmemom from Milwaukee WI
This mad my fine hair frizzy and unmanageable!! It was so full of static it was crazy. Total waste of money
Smells great, still had frizzy hair 4
Kelly from MD
This product smells amazing! I have long, fine hair that usually gets frizzy when I air dry. I tried this air foam and my hair was still frizzy when it dried. I'm gonna give it a coupe more tries, I might need to adjust how much I use. I'm hopeful it will work since it has great reviews! My hair was really soft after using this as well!
A new must have staple for me 5
Hailey from Savannah Ga
I love this for my hair! My platinum bleached hair loves protein, so this is a great styling product. It is super lightweight, but it gives me good hold and curl definition. It smells amazing, it doesn't leave a crunch.
It works... but use at your own risk 2
Lauren from Milwaukee, WI
This is the first review I've ever written for a product. I bought this over a year ago and have used a bottle and a half. It absolutely works on my hair, which is straight with a slight wave, thick but fine. That said... it gave me a ton of acne/bumps on my scalp and neck. I had to go to a dermatologist because I didn't know what was causing it! I stopped using it a few months ago and the acne is now gone. Even despite the acne, I kept using this product because I liked the results... but now that I know it was causing my neck and scalp acne, I can't use it anymore.
Love it!!! 5
Aly from Santa Clarita, CA
The only issue was that I used too much the first time and it made my hair a little greasy.
But once I adjusted the amount, I fell in love with this product! It smells awesome, not too heavy, and NO FRIZZ! I have been getting Brazilian blowouts for the past 3 years but I haven't been able to get one for the past 6 months. I've been struggling so much with frizz (on just the top third of my hair where it hasn't had the BB treatment to make things worse) and this product is a god send. Worth the money!
I recommend! 4
Maya from Pocatello ID
This is a great mouse product, definitely adds wave to hair, not necessarily enhancing my natural curl pattern but I love the look it gives and the smell of the product! I was hoping it would reduce frizz as it is an air dry product, but that's not the case. It is still worth the purchase!
