Three to four weeks before prom is a great time to get consistent about your skin care routine—if you aren’t already. We recommend:

• Cleanse and moisturize in the morning and before bed.
• Apply sunscreen daily.
• Apply lip balm daily (and use a lip scrub if they’re really chapped).
• Once or twice a week, add in a mask that targets whatever your unique skin goals are.
• If breakouts pop up, don’t pick ‘em! That can lead to scarring and discoloration. Just apply an acne spot treatment with clean fingertips, and let it run its course.

Even if a pro is styling your hair on the big day, showing it some extra love will minimize split ends, boost shine and take your prom style to the next level. Try these:

• A weekly hydrating hair mask.
• Scalp care, including some DIY massages. (They feel so good!)
• Scale back on heat-styling and always use a thermal protector.
• Leave-in conditioning sprays or creams for extra nourishment and repair.

Formal looks often highlight arms, shoulders, legs and even back! If you want to shine allover, give these tips a go:

• Exfoliate once or twice a week.

• Slather on a rich body cream or body balm after showering. Let it soak in before getting dressed.

• Apply hand cream and reapply throughout the day.

• Consider a gradual self-tanner for an even, radiant finish.

Formal looks often highlight arms, shoulders, legs and even back! If you want to shine allover, give these tips a go:

• Plan to do your nails about a day before prom.

• Opt for a gel polish to prevent chips.

• Apply cuticle oil the morning of prom to refresh nails and add shine.

• Smooth on hand cream the morning of prom.

• If you’re seeing an artist at Ulta Beauty, bring photos so they understand your vision.

• If you’re DIYing it, practice a few times before the big day to make sure you have everything you need and can totally ace your look.

• Use a primer to help your makeup last all day and night.

• Opt for long-wearing formulas—maybe even waterproof mascara. (It might get a little emotional!)

• Make sure to bring your lip color with you for touchups throughout prom.

• Finish with a setting spray for an extra long-lasting boost.

Apply hair primer before air drying or blowdrying.

• If you’re seeing a stylist at The Salon at Ulta Beauty, bring photos so they understand your vision.

• Spritz on heat protection if you’re using hot tools. (Ask your pro to use this if you’re glamming at a salon.)

• Once styled, mist your hair with a hairspray for touchable hold—choose a medium hold if you’re wearing your hair down, or a stronger hold for an updo.

• Spritz shine spray on length and ends.

• Using pins? Help bobby pins stay put by coating them in hairspray before placing them into your style.

You’re all set to get your hair, skin, nails and more ready leading up to and on the big day. But more importantly, get ready to have fun! Dance all night. Take a zillion pics. Laugh until you cry.
