How to Use

First things first. I needed a hair straightener. I say it's pricey cuz I'm not well off like some. But it was colorful and I had funds to splurge on myself for once. And hey if they didn't offer a refund for things I didn't like, I wouldn't get it. Second, I travel enough, that the only time I have to style my hair, is to just throw it up in a ponytail. But now I can get up, turn this brush on and straighten and curl my hair inward like I want. And I'm on my way.
My hair type: Asian type hair. Short length hair(a bob) It's naturally straight(not pin straight) but will bend and shape into whatever it wants because I sleep crazy.
DOES NOT replace your straight iron!
I used after a shower and blew dry my hair and used volumizing heat protectant spray. Fell apart after I woke up the next day.
One day old hair(hair unwashed) It straightened(NOT pin straight) and left my bed hair styled. As in, it was still volumized and bouncy. Depending on how healthy/unhealthy your hair is, shininess and frizziness might end up with different results. And DO NOT expect it to be pin straight. It's just a straightener, not a flat iron. Yes, it heats up fast like a flat iron. No, it DOES NOT flatten it like a flat iron. And yes, hair does fall out. But that's perfectly normal because that is a natural body occurrence. For me at least. Don't take my word for it.
Trust me. If there was a way to test it out before you commit. I would do that. But health hazards. I get it. It is pricey but I love it. So it's worth it. For me.

Let me begin by saying that I really like Dry Bar and swear by their buttercup blow dryer and their wrap party curling wand... That is what made me want to try the brush crush so badly and what led me to make excuses for this sub-par product for over a month before I finally gave in and returned it. I have thick slightly wavy hair that I have been blow drying and straightening for years. The brush crush does straighten your hair, however, it is way slower than a normal flat Iron and took me several passes to straighten any piece of hair. I also had to brush very slowly for it to be effective. The firm outer bristles hurt when you use the brush facing down (like an actual hairbrush). And when you use it facing downwards the hair doesn't actually get up in the brush where the heat is so it doesn't straighten. Instead, you have to use the brush facing upwards and then use your other hand to place a section of hair across the brush and hold your section of hair taught while you slide the brush down. This means that this requires two hands and is no easier than a regular flat iron. Also, you can't effectively get the baby hair that frame your face. I tried so hard to love this product but ultimately it is more complicated than the tool it is intended to replace.

I got this brush after my straightener broke and I thought I would love it. I have fine hair but I have a lot of it. It does straighten your hair but it left mine feeling frizzy and I couldn't get the baby hairs straight around my face. They just got more and more frizzy, I'll be exchanging today.

The Brush Crush by drybar is the best brush for fine wavy hair! I sprayed a little It's a Ten leave in conditioner on dry hair. I started with bedhead hair that had frizzy knots in back. I used brush for 5 minutes and it looks amazing. I only did 3 sections too. So very easy to use, long cord and a little heavier then a typical straight iron. The only thing that could be improved is location of heat setting buttons. My pinky kept touching heat settings buttons on accident.

I've had this tool now for almost a year and I really wish I had bought a cheaper version. I have blonde with bright blue and purple highlights hair. The heat brush works great at keeping my hair straight but it gets clogged up with hair protective products. I have reached out to Dry Bar to ask about cleaning and they recommend using a Q-tip. Well that is very time consuming and doesn't clean it very well over all. If it was going to stay covered/clogged with hair product then for the price they should have a cleaning solution come with it.

I have a BaByliss straightener, as well as this now.
I just purchased this today, because with my other straightener it takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes (on a good day) to straighten my hair. I have naturally curly/wavy hair to begin with, and it can be a complete hassle to straighten with a regular straightener. I was skeptical buying this because I didn't know if it would work well with my waves but it works AWESOME...I straightened my whole head in less than 10 minutes, and that was going over my strands a few more than necessary times. It gently combs out my waves while straightening them, and it's awesome! Two times over, MAX. The only con I could say is it does make my hair look a tiny bit frizzy but I think that's simply from the "brush" effect, if you brush any curls it will look frizzy so I can't say anything bad about this product. It takes 15 mins TOPS, AND it doesn't leave my hair smelling burnt like most straighteners do. 5/5, this product is awesome!!!!

I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair. This product worked OK to straighten it, but it didn't do anything special. I let my hair air dry and then sectioned it and went nice and slow, hoping for a blow-out look with some volume compared to how it looks when I do the same thing with my flat iron. Nope. Just regular straight hair with a bit of frizz left over, even though I used my regular leave-in conditioner/heat protectant product. I definitely get more versatility with my flat iron, especially trying to finish the front layers and ends of my hair. I'm going to keep it a few more days and see if I can master some kind of special technique for volume, but ultimately I'll probably return it. Did it straighten my crazy hair? Yes... But it's very expensive and I think I'd rather use that money towards a new flat iron that straightens my hair better and can give some extra finish like curls and waves.

I use to straighten my thick loosely curly hair. I use this with Drybar Hot Toddy spray.

I love love love this straightening brush! I think it's way better (damage wise) on my hair versus a regular straightener. The ends are the only pain but they aren't horrible. I usually blow dry my hair and then use this brush as a flat iron. Will recommend!

I was very excited when i made the order for the brush. I was quickly disappointed when the brush failed to give me the blow dry hair that it advertises. My hair is easily manageable and it looks way better with the revlon two in one $60 brush. I will be returning this product.

I think this is better suited for thick, course hair. I have fine hair but a lot of it. It straightens it and doesn't snag but I still have bumps. Not worth the money for me personally but definitely a quality producy.

I have super thick Latina hair and always used to have to part each section when straightening my hair but after buying this products I can finish straightening my hair in now 10 minutes. I really love this product, it's really worth the price.

Bought product because Dry Bar had event and girl used it on my hair along with flat iron. Used it after I washed my hair and let it completely dry. Come through in small sections and it did NOTHING to straightened curls except made it poofy. Ran it over small sections of hair four or five times like the girl told me..NOTHING! Made my hair so frizzy, poofy like a lion's mane. LOL! Had to break out my CROC flat iron to tame it back to normal. Not worth it at all and returned it. May work for hair that is already straight!

I straighten my hair in half the time now! It helps with frizz and my hair is nice and shiny.

So I have very thick curly hair and I was very skeptical of this brush. As I have had other brushes and it did not do anything for my hair. Let me tell you this brush is AMAZING it actually works and I don't have to use a flat iron after. It makes my hair shiny. Takes the frizz out and it's quick. It took me about 30mins or so to do my hair when it usually takes me 1hr and 15mins. I highly recommend this product.

I use this in place of a straight iron.

I am so glad I brought this brush. If a beauty product can be life-changing, this has been it for me. I have very thick coarse hair. Very time consuming using a traditional straightener. I have owned a hair straightening brush before (in styler), this product works way way better. I know it is a higher price point, but the price difference is way worth it. I can go to bed on wet hair, wake up looking like Chewbacca, and in a few minutes of easy brushing look like a normal person, I'll take it :)))

My boyfriend bought this product for me as a gift, as I really wanted something that I could use when my hair was already dried. I have long very thick, naturally curly/frizzy hair. There are days that I let my hair air dry, and I was hoping that I could use this product to lessen the time that it would take to section my hair and straighten. I have the Dry Bar blow dryer and the babyliss straight iron. When I used this brush, I did not notice any difference time was between using my straight iron, and it left my hair very dry and wiry. Additionally, after using it, I felt like I still needed to run my straight iron through to get really straight hair. The only good thing I noticed was that I was able to really target baby hairs better than my straight iron, but to me it was not worth it to keep this product.

I really like the product and it seems to work well but I am still thinking about returning it. The power button and the button to turn the heat up and down is in the wrong place. As you use it, your fingers are always hitting it. I am always either turning the heat down or turning it off. I have tried several different ways to hold it but then burnt my finger.

The first time I used this, I hated it because my ends were flying all over the place. The second time I used it, I figured out that if I flip my head upside down and flip the paddle out, my hair comes out smooth and the ends are tucked in. Doing it upside down also gives me more volume at my roots than a regular hair straightener. I can do my whole head in 3 minutes with my head upside down. It still doesn't make my ends super smooth, but I also don't use any product or get my hair trimmed as often as I should. Something that turned me to this brand was that each brush bristle is heated, where as all the other brands had non-heated bristles intermixed with the heated bristles.

I have wavy hair. I wanted to love this. This got it mostly straight, but still with a lot of underlying frizz (which I guess some people are calling volume). Which meant that my hair looked okay for half a day and then it just couldn't hold the straight style and I had to re-do it. It also doesn't do the ends well at all, since you have no way to have tension to hold the ends against the heat.
This *might* be semi useful for a the day after you already flat ironed your hair, but for the price it just doesn't seem to justify the use.
It also might be good if you already have straight hair and just want a little boost to get the kinks out. But as far as an everyday styling tool, it's not for me.

I have tried several of these brushes and this one is by far the best!

Perfect heat perfect straightener

It's a good heated straightening brush. It is better than several of the competitors. Do not think you will have board straight hair with this brush.

This product is amazing and has cut down my styling time.

This is a wonderful product for busy ladies who can only spend 10-15 minutes on their hair. I can do my whole head of thick hair in about 12 minutes. It is fast and effective. I haven't turned on my expensive flat iron since I bought this.
