Most Helpful Positive Review Does the job!! First things first. I needed a hair straightener. I say it's pricey cuz I'm not well off like some. But it was colorful and I had funds to splurge on myself for once. And hey if they didn't offer a refund for things I didn't like, I wouldn't get it. Second, I travel enough, that the only time I have to style my hair, is to just throw it up in a ponytail. But now I can get up, turn this brush on and straighten and curl my hair inward like I want. And I'm on my way.
My hair type: Asian type hair. Short length hair(a bob) It's naturally straight(not pin straight) but will bend and shape into whatever it wants because I sleep crazy.
DOES NOT replace your straight iron!
I used after a shower and blew dry my hair and used volumizing heat protectant spray. Fell apart after I woke up the next day.
One day old hair(hair unwashed) It straightened(NOT pin straight) and left my bed hair styled. As in, it was still volumized and bouncy. Depending on how healthy/unhealthy your hair is, shininess and frizziness might end up with different results. And DO NOT expect it to be pin straight. It's just a straightener, not a flat iron. Yes, it heats up fast like a flat iron. No, it DOES NOT flatten it like a flat iron. And yes, hair does fall out. But that's perfectly normal because that is a natural body occurrence. For me at least. Don't take my word for it.
Trust me. If there was a way to test it out before you commit. I would do that. But health hazards. I get it. It is pricey but I love it. So it's worth it. For me.

Most Helpful Critical Review I really wanted to love it.... Let me begin by saying that I really like Dry Bar and swear by their buttercup blow dryer and their wrap party curling wand... That is what made me want to try the brush crush so badly and what led me to make excuses for this sub-par product for over a month before I finally gave in and returned it. I have thick slightly wavy hair that I have been blow drying and straightening for years. The brush crush does straighten your hair, however, it is way slower than a normal flat Iron and took me several passes to straighten any piece of hair. I also had to brush very slowly for it to be effective. The firm outer bristles hurt when you use the brush facing down (like an actual hairbrush). And when you use it facing downwards the hair doesn't actually get up in the brush where the heat is so it doesn't straighten. Instead, you have to use the brush facing upwards and then use your other hand to place a section of hair across the brush and hold your section of hair taught while you slide the brush down. This means that this requires two hands and is no easier than a regular flat iron. Also, you can't effectively get the baby hair that frame your face. I tried so hard to love this product but ultimately it is more complicated than the tool it is intended to replace.

Pricey but so worth it. Snagged it on sale but still a bargain at full price. I got salon like results on the first try. And I was done within a few minutes. This brush gets to 450 fairly quickly and gets the job done. I did also use IGK Good Behavior Smoothing Spray.
I AM ABSOLUTELY BEYOND OBSESSED WITH THIS PRODUCT!!!! 5

I have been searching for the best flat iron I could find, and was a bit skeptical about a "straightening brush" that just struck me as odd and with having thick hair I didn't think it would work at all! But I was consciously surprised!
Seriously BUY THIS!!!!
Exceeded my expectations 5

I have natural 4B curls. This brush straightens all of my hair in five minutes. It's incredible. This really exceeded my expectations! 10/10, would absolutely recommend.
Love it!! 5

I really love how easy this is to use!! My hair is very straight after using - my recommendation is to make sure your hair is completely dry and do small sections and brush hair out before starting. No frizz and one or two passes to get straightening - love, love, love it!!

m I have poofy curly wavy frizzy hair (sounds fun right ) and I straighten every two days ish. Was looking for a solution to help cut down the time it takes. Well search continues because this product somehow managed to make my hair only more poofy and frizzy? What? After like an hour of using it at the highest heat setting it looked nice and felt soft but I could tell it was the kinda straight that you get from a hair dryer and that will get extra poofy and frizzy as soon as any humidity hits it. Nailed it. Exactly what happened. Went to one store came back looked in mirror and was horrified.

Didn't love the product or Ulta Customer Service 1
krgreen from Michigan
I already left a review on the product and voiced my disappointment. I usually love Dry Bar products and this really missed the mark for me - particularly at the price point. I've been going around in circles with Ulta Customer Service for almost two weeks trying to return this item for store credit (it's been over 60 days since I purchased). Their Customer Service is terrible at best - giving me no help or resolution. I will not be purchasing anything from Ulta again!
Doesn't fully straighten thick hair 2

I have very thick coarse hair and usually use a Sedu 1 1/2 inch straightener but it is old and starting to not get as hot. I bought this after reading reviews but after trying it, it left my hair frizzy and not as straight as I want. I think it comes down to needing to clamp down on my hair to make it as smooth as I want. I returned it.
LOVE!! 4

I definitely recommend this product to others. It is so easy and turns straightening time from 30 mins to 10. Definitely my new go to for doing my hair. Only down side is, sometimes it's a little hard to get the very ends of your hair because you have to hold it, but that's me being very picky. Overall, LOVE this product.
It's alright. 4

I have used the same Remington flat iron for 6+ years. I was so excited to splurge on myself and buy this hot brush. This product is not bad by any means, however, it is nothing special. I will be returning it since I really don't think it is worth the $100+ bucks I spent on it!
My hair is color treated, medium length, wavy, and fine. I usually only have to pass my flat iron through a section of hair 2-3 times for it to straighten. With the hot brush, I found my self going over sections of hair over and over again- the trick is to pass through a section of hair very slowly. It was awkward trying to straighten/brush the back of my hair. This brush could not 100% take the waves out of the back section of my hair after 10+ brushes at 360 degrees, so I just went in with my flat iron anyway to get the job done.
This product does leave your hair smooth and generally frizz free, but not any more so than a regular iron would. No issues turning on/off or anything like that. And obviously, it's so stinkin cute. I REALLY wanted to like this product, but the results were not significant enough for me to spend the money on it.
It's amazing!!!! Very convenient when you're on a rush!!! 5

Amazing it's a must PURCHASE!
Very happy with how it works! 5

So your hair must be dry prior to using it, this is not a wet to dry hair product. It isn't heavy at all, little more than a straightening iron weight. Heats up very quickly and does the job in a shorter amount of time than a traditional iron. Less hair damage as far as I'm concerned too.
Returning tomorrow 1

I have thick course curly hair. It was hard to brush through. It did not leave my hair smooth and straight. I did brush in small sections as I would when using my Chi hot iron. Needless to say this isn't for me. I will be returning it tomorrow.
Skeptical, but it really works! 4

I have color-treated fine hair — and lots of it! — that has gotten crazy frizzy with all the grays ... This product is SO much better than a flat iron! Easy to use, quick, gentle, and amazing lasting results. It even looks great the next day! The brush's rubber nubs sometimes grab at my fine hair, but with a little coaxing it goes through and leaves my hair shiny and beautiful! I am very pleased!

Love this Straightening Brush. Heats really fast and it's so easy to use. Works perfectly and I'm ready to go super quick. Lasts all day. Hair is shiny and no frizz

I got this brush after my straightener broke and I thought I would love it. I have fine hair but I have a lot of it. It does straighten your hair but it left mine feeling frizzy and I couldn't get the baby hairs straight around my face. They just got more and more frizzy, I'll be exchanging today.
Best Hair Tool! 5
Laura from Texas
The Brush Crush by drybar is the best brush for fine wavy hair! I sprayed a little It's a Ten leave in conditioner on dry hair. I started with bedhead hair that had frizzy knots in back. I used brush for 5 minutes and it looks amazing. I only did 3 sections too. So very easy to use, long cord and a little heavier then a typical straight iron. The only thing that could be improved is location of heat setting buttons. My pinky kept touching heat settings buttons on accident.
Not as great for the price 3
Mini Allison from CO
I've had this tool now for almost a year and I really wish I had bought a cheaper version. I have blonde with bright blue and purple highlights hair. The heat brush works great at keeping my hair straight but it gets clogged up with hair protective products. I have reached out to Dry Bar to ask about cleaning and they recommend using a Q-tip. Well that is very time consuming and doesn't clean it very well over all. If it was going to stay covered/clogged with hair product then for the price they should have a cleaning solution come with it.
Good for curly/wavy hair! 5
Evie from Ann Arbor
I have a BaByliss straightener, as well as this now.
I just purchased this today, because with my other straightener it takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes (on a good day) to straighten my hair. I have naturally curly/wavy hair to begin with, and it can be a complete hassle to straighten with a regular straightener. I was skeptical buying this because I didn't know if it would work well with my waves but it works AWESOME...I straightened my whole head in less than 10 minutes, and that was going over my strands a few more than necessary times. It gently combs out my waves while straightening them, and it's awesome! Two times over, MAX. The only con I could say is it does make my hair look a tiny bit frizzy but I think that's simply from the "brush" effect, if you brush any curls it will look frizzy so I can't say anything bad about this product. It takes 15 mins TOPS, AND it doesn't leave my hair smelling burnt like most straighteners do. 5/5, this product is awesome!!!!
Just OK 3
TeachingKinder from Wilmington, NC
I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair. This product worked OK to straighten it, but it didn't do anything special. I let my hair air dry and then sectioned it and went nice and slow, hoping for a blow-out look with some volume compared to how it looks when I do the same thing with my flat iron. Nope. Just regular straight hair with a bit of frizz left over, even though I used my regular leave-in conditioner/heat protectant product. I definitely get more versatility with my flat iron, especially trying to finish the front layers and ends of my hair. I'm going to keep it a few more days and see if I can master some kind of special technique for volume, but ultimately I'll probably return it. Did it straighten my crazy hair? Yes... But it's very expensive and I think I'd rather use that money towards a new flat iron that straightens my hair better and can give some extra finish like curls and waves.
