Reading self tan reviews are hilarious but infuriating. Im sorry but the bad reviews for this for streaking are PURELY bad technique and the bad reviews for color did not leave on long enough. Streaking? Ive bought this 8 times now and i promise you it is the least streakable, thickest foam on the m...arket. You just dont know how to use this if its streaking. You just cannot be rubbing this stuff in circles. You to have WELL prepped exfoliated and shaved skin the day BEFORE. No tackniess from a shower that day of application. Just soft smooth skin with no lotion on. and lay this on in one direction and make even passes. Its thick and dries down harder/ faster than other bali body mouses. Which is why its faster. It is the gold standard for this brand's products. As opposed to the regular 8 hour or whatever mousse that takes minutes of buffing it on/ half rubbing it off and back on and its all seeped into the mit. Secondly- I do not care that it says 1 hour. Leave it on like regular. At least 5/6 hours. It is no different than other tanning developers other than its a more 'even' formula. Its not magic and doesnt compeltely develop in 1 or 2 hours. But achieving the perfect color from ANY tan is going to be a balance. Leaving it on more than 6 hours - even 8 is pushing it with all these tanners because it surpasses golden undertones and all the special color agents the companies worked to put in for counteracting orange tones. By a certain point, the DHA thats in every tanner is all thats left coloring you. So no surprise- it deposits more orange the longer it sits. By the time its sat a certain amount youve taken away the special provisions in choosing a certain brand/formula because it will all look the same. Straight orange. Id say leave for 6 hours. Take a medium warm shower with just water but rub all your parts down- truly rinse it all off for about 5 minutes and then moisturize when you get out. It looks like most of your color is gone when you get out compared to before. That is what you want. If you wore this stuff so long that none of the guide color is rinsing off in the shower and its all just stuck and dried to you, you step out and you are the same color as the guide, it will deepen even more and youll have harsh hands and feet and will look CRAZY in the sunlight 2 days later. This stuff KEEPS DEVELOPING somehow after your first shower. So you want it to look super natural at first. Just slightly light brown. Your next day will look great. You may notice you still have a self tan smell come back the next day when its time for a shower again. Take that next shower the next day faithfully with soap and again maybe keep it to 5 minutes and it should truly stop deepening. Keep up with daily short showers, light exfoliation with maybe a sugar scrub til it naturally lightens by the end of the week. This avoids a crusted harsh look and the color coming off in patches by the end of your wear. You WILL NOT shave your legs until you are done getting your week of color out of this tan and are ready to exfoliate and re-apply. Shaving halfway through the week pulls off the color on those shins. Its not worth it. A little stubble and a nice soft skin tan looks better and smoother than shaving it. Pick one day of the week like Thursday for prep and Friday for tan. Repeat this as a weekly habit and you'll always have a nice glow. And especially always look nice on the weekends.
