How to Use Lock Function:
- The SMART-XTM High Efficiency Dryer allows you to lock your style settings in place to prevent accidental change during use. To lock your style settings, move the ON-OFF switch to the LOCK position, with the lock symbol. When the dryer is set in the LOCK position, you cannot adjust the heat or speed settings, but the cool shot function may still be used. To change your style settings, simply move the ON-OFF switch from the LOCK position back to the ON position.
How to Use the Self-Cleaning Function:
- The dryer will alert you when it must be cleaned. All three speed lights will flash simultaneously for 5 seconds. During this time, the dryer will NOT function. It will resume functioning on the sixth second. To engage the self-cleaning function, hold down the "Speed Lower" button for approximately 10 seconds. The dryer will automatically self-clean for 15 seconds. Once the cleaning is complete, you may resume using the dryer as normal.

I loved that the dryer is lightweight, loved how powerful it was and I also loved that you could self clean it! I had gotten it at the hair show at the Bio Ionic booth and was enjoying it for about 4 months and obviously cleaning it every day because it had a self cleaning mode and I had spent over $300 on it so I was doing my part. Until one day I was using it and it just decided to not turn on. What I should've done was gotten my money back right away because once you do a warranty claim, they will not give you anything back. After receiving it back from that first warranty I have not had one sent back to me that has worked. This last time, when I tell you, I turned it on (2 clients and coworker as witness) it was automatically on the lowest settings so I go to turn it to MEDIUM heat, it makes this high-pitched noise and then cuts off and didn't turn back on… I've had to return this hairdryer THREE times. And all they can say is “well are you cleaning it†YES. I'm cleaning it. Why would I spend that much money on a hairdryer to not take care of it?? I'm sick &over it. So now I have a Dyson and I LOVE it.
