• Quloob means hearts in Arabic, and this is a fragrance built to be noticed rather than to sit quietly in the background.
• The opening is bright and slightly unusual. Bergamot gives the citrus lift you'd expect, but oregano sits right alongside it - a green, herbal, almost savoury note you rarely find at the top of a fragrance. Fresh spices round it off. It's the kind of opening that gets people asking what you're wearing.
• The heart softens considerably. Amber and labdanum bring a resinous sweetness, with opoponax adding balsamic warmth underneath. This is the most familiar stretch of the wear, and it works as a bridge into what follows.
• The base is where the real character sits: leather, patchouli, smoke and oud. It goes far darker than that citrus opening ever suggests, and it's the part people remember. Hours on skin, considerably longer on fabric.
