In 'how to use' it is recommended that you shake the bottle. My brand new bottle contains such thick product that it doesn't move at all when I shake it and I have to scrap the side of the bottle to get anything on the applicator. Is this normal or could I have gotten a defective item? Thanks.

This flaked and caked on my eyelid immediately, and the return policy says it cannot be returned unless it's unopened (how would you know if it works or not unless you try it?). Very dissatisfied
