I was excited to receive Matrix's Instant Revival Liquid Mask complimentary in exchange for my honest review since I'd just run out of the hair mask I'd been using. I have 2A wavy hair that is moderately damaged from dye, previous use of bleach, and using a flat iron so I use a mask twice a week to ...help repair the damage. Unfortunately, my excitement for this mask was short lived and after using the mask 3 times, with 4 days in between each use, I decided it best that I no longer used the product in my hair. The mask is unlike any other I've ever seen or used, as it's packaged in a squeeze tube and has a liquid texture, similar to a lightweight lotion or body milk. I've always used and preferred thicker, creamier masks for my hair, but I figured that may just be because it's what I'm used to. When I applied the lotion to my hair I noticed a citrus/grapefruit scent, which was okay, but I realized why I liked the thicker, creamier masks better and it's because a little goes a long way and just a quarter sized dollop coats and detangles my hair. After applying the liquid mask and letting it sit in my hair for 5 minutes my hair felt no softer than it would using a conditioner bought at a grocery store and I had to apply more product in order to get my untangled. After washing the conditioner out of my hair, towel drying, then blow drying it I noticed my hair did not feel clean at all. It felt as though I had a film of some sort on it and each time I used this mask my hair felt as though it had a gross film covering it once it was dried. Lastly, after using this mask in place of my conditioner my hair was knottier than normal and did not feel or look clean, and because of these things I definitely cannot recommend this product to others. Also, every mask I've used says to apply the product throughout your hair from roots to ends, but the directions on this mask said to apply it only to the length of your hair, which is what you do with conditioner, not a mask.
