Not the Vanilla Dream I Hoped For

Whenever I see vanilla listed among the main notes of a fragrance, my expectations go sky-high. It's one of my all-time favorite scent notes. So when I came across Grand Cuvée by Vacation, I was genuinely excited. First of all, I loved that this fragrance serves as the signature scent for their Char...donnay-infused sunscreen oil, an unexpected and creative twist that intrigued me even more. Plus, it gets extra points for being vegan, cruelty-free, and free of common irritating ingredients like parabens, sulfates, and artificial dyes.But now let's get to the heart of the matter, the scent itself. And here's where things got a little disappointing for me.The opening is quite pleasant, with a sparkling blend of vanilla bean, peach eau de vie, and a fizzy champagne note that gives off a playful, celebratory vibe. It definitely evokes that sunny, carefree feeling that the brand is going for. Unfortunately, that charm fades much too quickly. Within minutes, the top notes begin to disappear, and what's left is surprisingly soft. Even after reapplying, I found that the scent had very limited longevity on my skin.The heart of the fragrance features notes like argan, sunwashed sails, and sunkissed skin all meant to convey a breezy, beachy feel. But, I felt like the fragrance lacked body. Then comes the base, with amber, cedarwood, and cognac, ingredients that usually bring depth and warmth. I was hoping for something rich, enveloping, and cozy. But again, the fragrance stays far too soft. The vanilla that I was so looking forward to never quite takes center stage. It lingers faintly in the background, but never blooms the way I wanted it to. And that, honestly, was the biggest letdown for me. I love vanilla, the richness, the sensuality, the comfort but in Grand Cuvée, it barely whispers. I have to say that while the fragrance is well-made and conceptually interesting, it just didn't work for me. I adore vanilla, but in this scent, it lacked the power and presence I usually look for. The overall fragrance was far too light, almost like a scented breeze rather than a full-on perfume. For those who prefer very subtle, minimalist fragrances the kind you wear on a no-makeup beach day this might be a lovely pick. But if you're like me and want something with more projection and staying power, Grand Cuvée will likely fall short.That said, I don't think it's a bad fragrance at all. It's elegant in its own way, and definitely has a niche charm. It smells clean and a bit fruity. I can appreciate the artistry behind it, and I think people who enjoy light, skin-close scents with a beachy twist will find it very appealing.Still, for someone who was hoping for a creamy, warm, and slightly gourmand vanilla experience, this just wasn't it. It's one of those perfumes that smells nice when you sniff it up close, but almost vanishes as soon as you step away. Beautiful concept, lovely ingredients, great idea, but not nearly strong enough for my taste. **This review was collected as part of a promotion.
