Most Helpful Positive Review Great Protection, Rosacea Relief
Wearing sunscreen is the most effective way to prevent against skin cancer, premature skin aging, and loss of firmness. I wear sunscreen on my face and neck every day, and I always opt for a high SPF because most people (myself included) do not apply the recommended amount of SPF to get the full protection on the product label. I usually wear mineral sunscreens because my skin is sensitive to chemical formulations and it irritates my rosacea, and also because there is some evidence to suggest that zinc oxide is beneficial for reducing the redness and irritation from acne rosacea, acne vulgaris, and papopustular rosacea. I am thirty years old and have struggled with acne, closed comedones, and now rosacea--I can't catch a break!
I really enjoy this COOLA sunscreen because I can comfortably use it on my face and body, so I don't need separate products and can save money. I also enjoy how it doesn't irritate my skin and it helps cover some of the redness on my rosacea-prone skin. Fragrance-free is important to me as it is highly irritating, and I have enough red bumps and texture on skin already! I find that it wears well under makeup or on its own and it doesn't sting near my eyes. Even better, this sunscreen is reef safe, which I appreciate to help protect marine ecosystems.
Of course, it does have a bit of a white cast (all mineral sunscreens do), but I don't mind because it helps cover some of my rosacea, and I also find that the cast goes away after about an hour. I know this is not ideal for everyone, particularly people of color, but if you have a lighter complexion you might consider wearing this under your color-corrector or foundation. I find that the COOLA is creamy, doesn't require much rubbing to apply, and protects me from burning. I have tried other dermatologist recommended sunscreens and have found them unbearably chalky and heavy and they don't wear well under my makeup.
My only downside is the price, but considering I can use this safely on both face and body it is a good price per ounce compared to other face-specific formulas.
I will definitely continue to buy as long as they continue this formula! Thanks, COOLA!
Most Helpful Critical Review No no no no no no -- NO
First of all, this product does not absorb well into the skin AT ALL. It's thick and sits on top like a weird paste. That being said, it made my skin look ashy and I moisturize every single day, cold and hot weather from head-to-toe. But this sunscreen made my skin look flaky and scaly. Oh, and it also made my skin feel really chalky. Just not an overall good look or feeling.
To make matters worse, despite the constant ashiness, I got a massive sun burn while wearing it. I made sure to apply this to all exposed areas before going to the park just a couple of days ago. When I got home, I had ridiculous tan lines -- unattractive sunburnt ones -- all over my shoulders. And I don't even burn that much. It's so sensitive that wearing a purse on my shoulder is uncomfortable...a bra strap...even if I LIGHTLY rub it.
This sunscreen was returned IMMEDIATELY after my massive burn. (I had been trying it out for about a month, but this was the first time I was ever in an area with open exposure.)

I wanted to love this product Because I love the spray version but I absolutely hated it. This left a terrible white cast and did not blend in at all!!! Never again.

This is the best sunscreen I've ever used. No weird smells or residue
Difficult to apply
Alisurf from FL
This is a very thick formula. It's requires a lot of effort to rub in and leaves a white cast that settles in my elbow creases and is very difficult to wash off. It feels greasy going on but is very drying. It smells like modeling clay. If you're looking for something that is easy to use every day and goes on in a flash, this isn't it.
Awful White Cast NOT SHEER
Tabitha from Iowa
This is awful. I am Caucasian and have had melanoma so I'm working to find good sunscreens without the white cast and this is terrible. Not sure who thinks this is a sheer finish but it's not. it pills on my skin and leaves terrible white residue. Don't waste your money like I did...
Smells like Playdoh, not my favorite
Nikkijo from undisclosed
I had to stop wearing this because I couldn't stand the smell. It smelled like I was shoving playdoh up my nose and would literally make me gag. I also thought the formula was thicker and harder to rub in than the other Coola products. However, I didn't notice a whitecast so that was a benefit. Unless you really need the mineral formula, I'd try a different product. I'm sure the protection is just as great as the others, but I'll save this as a backup in case I run out my other sunscreens.

Love that there are no chemicals in your products and that I feel very safe putting it on my skin. Being cruelty free and reef friendly is super important to me.
I love this organic sunscreen.

I love this organic sunscreen. It is fragrance free and the ingredients feel great on my skin.
Kate O. from undisclosed
This is my favorite sunscreen. I love that 70% of the ingredients are organic, and that it has no chemicals in it. It's effective, and it goes on smooth and rubs in reasonably well. After about 15 minutes, you will look less white; however, with any mineral sunscreen, you will have a whitish cast to your skin, so don't expect it to rub in as well as a non-mineral sunscreen.

Good mineral sunscreen that is unscented for those who are sensitive to fragrance. Thick and has a white cast for my medium olive skin tone. Long staying power. Comes off easily with body wash.
Great stay-put, reef-safe sunscreen!
Meredith C. from undisclosed
Always on the lookout for the reef-safe sunscreen that also stay on while, swimming, surfing and riding. This is it! I recommend using a little to start as it is really white on the skin, but it stays on forever, even after a surf!
Ruined my bathing suit
Cait from Columbus
I used this sunscreen when I wore a black bathing suit. I guess I pulled my suit up while I still had sunscreen on my hands and it just had white prints on the straps. I tried washing it off in the pool and it would not come off and I also washed it in my washing machine and would not come off.
It took an extreme amount of time to soak into the skin. My husband looked like a ghost even after spending 15 minutes trying to rub it in.
Not worth the money and will ruin your swimsuits.
I do love this product, I use it everyday.

I work at a school and am out in the sun for recess everyday. I use this Coola sunscreen. It goes on easily and I like that it is unscented.
Love this product
Lisa from Orinda CA
I use this on my face and body regularly and it's now my go -to. I prefer mineral sunscreens and this formulation works so well. It's thick and creamy and takes some time to rub in but within 5-10 minutes the white cast dissipates and the finish is lovely. Not overly matte or drying, not too shiny. Although it's fragrance free it has a scent to it that is light and pleasant. I typically layer a tinted sunscreen or primer over it once it has set (about 10 minutes after application) and it never pills and blends perfectly. Great price point, excellent ingredients, love the size too!
Check expiration date
MsBeautifulEyes from USA
This is a very nice body sunscreen. It smooths easily and leaves no white caste. I must caution, however, that the product I purchased in store was expired. I should have checked before purchasing, but please be warned -- check the date before you buy or upon receiving an online order.
Where is my product?
Christina L. from undisclosed
COOLA invited me to leave a review. I would love to do that, but my product has not even been shipped yet and I ordered it 4/16 (it is now 5/13). I tried to cancel the order but they would not let me. The estimated delivery date keeps getting pushed back and is now 5/20. Summer may be over by the time I actually get my sunscreen.

I bought this as my first mineral sunscreen hoping it would be sheer enough to use on the face and body without a white-cast. I love that you get more product with this size. I also love that it has a matte finish. I can tell it is great quality! Unfortunately the white-cast is quite strong. I have light-medium skin tone with neutral undertones. When I wear it my skin looks less warm and more pink. When my partner wore it on his face he had white patches where his beard started. I'd like to try the sunscreen products specifically for the face, but they are less affordable for the amount of ounces you get.
Maria K. from undisclosed
At first made my skin dry and itchy, but my skin seems to be getting more used to it. Skin is well protected, no sunburn. A bit of a white cast, but to be expected. Not too white, still worth using. I like that it's mostly organic and comes in sustainable packaging.
Slitt from South Florida
Hunting for a good mineral sunscreen is challenging. This fragrance free option leaves the most lovely powder finish to skin that feels like velvet. White cast is a little intense at first but soaks in so nicely
Asher from Carson City
Lightweight and Non greasy. does leave a slight white cast but it does fade a little after it warms to the skin. doesn't like to rub into areas with body hair. feels nice on this skin otherwise and doesn't smell like anything.

This is great stuff. Mix with your favorite foundation color for all day coverage. The bottle is a nice size and will last a long time! I love that there are no harsh ingredients too.
Good mineral sunscreen
MLF from Minneapolis, MN
Goes on smoothly, slight scent at first. Not greasy at all, not too white, but it is mineral, so expected it to have a mineral look. I really like this for a body sunscreen & will buy it again. Others I have used were super greasy & so white they were blue. This is a great improvement over those. I don't even notice I've put it on.
A mineral sunblock that isn't bothersome
Claire H. from undisclosed
Mineral sunscreens I've tried so far attend to be thick, sticky, and leave a very obvious white cast. This one is really well formulated, spreads really easily, and leaves extremely minimal white cast. It's a very comfortable sunscreen to wear and I would recommend it to anyone who's trying to substitute traditional sun screens with a mineral cream, but that is hesitant about the white cast problem.
Paige from Palm Beach
Goes on light and doesn't leave a white film like other mineral sunscreens.
Bad smell, doesn't absorb
IndyGirl from Virginia
Received this product in my FitFabFun box - it's a clumpy liquid that separates in the bottle. The smell was distasteful and the lotion does not absorb well. Also left my face feeling oily. I tried handful of times and never got better. Would not recommend.

First mineral sunscreen I could find for my sensitive dry skin that doesn't leave a noticeable white cast.
