Summary
Drunk Elephant's Cocomino Glossing Shampoo is formulated with both scalp and hair in mind. A sulfate-free, color-safe blend of coconut-based surfactants creates a gentle, creamy foam that lifts dirt, styling products, and other substances without damaging the hair shaft or stripping color.
Benefits
- Gentle, low-foam cleanse that's color-safe, rinses easily, and won't strip hair
- Adds smoothness and shine
- Improves manageability, giving visible body and bounce
- Helps boost water content and prevent dehydration
- Naturally sweet almond scent dissipates quickly
- Formulated at a skin- (and scalp-) friendly pH of 5.5
- Recyclable packaging
Key Ingredients
- Sacha Inchi Seed Oil: Used for its potential to moisturize and soothe irritated skin due to its high concentration of antioxidant polyphenols, omega 6 (aka linoleic), and omega 3 (linolenic) fatty acids. In hair care, sacha inchi oil adds shine and helps offset the damage done by heat styling.
- Panthenol: Also known as pro-vitamin B5, it is used as a powerful hydrating ingredient that helps smooth, soften, and strengthen the hair shaft.
- Coconut Amino Acid Blend: Gentle, fatty-acid-rich, coconut-based surfactants effectively lift dirt, styling products, and other substances away while quick-absorbing amino acids add strength & improved manageability, giving hair a healthier, glossier appearance with visible body & bounce.
Formulated Without
- Made without the Suspicious 6 - the six ingredients Drunk Elephant believes are at the root of almost every skin issue (Essential oils, Silicones, Chemical sunscreens, SLS, Fragrances + dyes, and Drying alcohols)

Had dandruff problems and tried everything!
I went looking for a good shampoo that didn't disrupt my scalp for so long. I looked for shampoo without harsh chemicals and sulfites, trying oribe and other designer shampoo and it'll work for a month but I find myself having dandruff again. Mind you, I shower every day so it's not the poor hygiene...

Great shampoo but please reduce packaging.
Shampoo is great. However, please consider reduce packaging. Just a bottle of shampoo uses a box larger than a shoebox with tons of papers and print out. It's all going to be throw away immediately. What a waste and not sustainable.

I have been using the shampoo on and off since 2021! I'm such a huge fan. It clearly makes a difference when you go from one shampoo to this one because my hair is shiny and more manageable and I get a really good deep clean. Please make the jumbo size again!!!!!

Unbelievably great

Once upon a time, in a super laid back high school journalism class, a group of girls who would never normally associate with each other were casually discussing hair care. One of them offhandedly said that as long as you use a good conditioner, it really doesn't matter what shampoo you use. For some reason, this "fact" stuck in my brain for over 2 decades. I carried this lie with me until this past week, at age 38. I've spent thousands of dollars on shampoo, conditioner, oils, leave in treatments, fancy wooden brushes. I bought this sometime last year, tried it along with the marula conditioner & wild detangler, felt sort of "meh" about my results and it sat in my shower looking pretty for months while I continued trying other expensive things. Suddenly, it occurred to me: what if I used my extremely moisturizing conditioner with this shampoo? I cannot believe how shiny my hair is. It's soft. It's still soft on day 2. I could brush it, while dry, on day 2! Without my hair ripping. This is normally beyond impossible. I hate myself for sleeping on this shampoo for so long. Never again! *I have extra fine, slightly wavy (Irish curls) that is so hard to care for. It's been a nightmare since I relocated to a place with moderately hard water. Buy this! Drunk elephant, do not ever discontinue this product. PLEASE!

I love my Giovanni wheat shampoo (the only shampoo that actually cleans, along with their tea tree shampoo), but my ends were starting to feel crunchy. So I tried the Cocomino shampoo on its own and wasn't impressed (didn't clean all that well and felt sticky). But when I use the Cocomino shampoo first and then follow it with the Giovanni wheat, my hair gets clean but not too clean. Followed with my Honest sensitive spray leave-in detangler (the sensitive is the best, just don't overdo it), my hair has volume at the roots and is shiny (but not sticky). It hasn't looked this good in years. I did try both of DE's leave-in conditioners and was not particularly impressed (the Silkamino in particular did not distribute well and left my hair greasy where I first touched it). But if you try this combination, I'd be curious to know if your results are similar (you can upvote or downvote this review).
