Usually I clean my brush by taking out the hairs with my own hands and scrubbing off the little bits with my fingertips under hot water and with soap. worked great on my round brush, and on my blow dryer brush. the dense rake was good for removing all the buildup from my hair products. i used it pretty vigorously with short/swift raking. yes the bristles bend... and you can bend them right back.
