Pick a lighter shade from this eye makeup palette to use as your base and apply all over the lid. Next, go in with a transitional shade and blend into crease. Love Ulta, but these shadows missed the mark
I absolutely love shopping at Ulta and appreciate that their Ulta Beauty Collection is cruelty-free — huge win. But I have to be honest: their eyeshadows just aren't hitting the way they used to. I've now tried this Everyday Faves Palette, the Mini Moods, and the Color Snack shadows, and they've all fallen a little short. The pigmentation is much lighter than expected, and the formula doesn't spread or blend evenly on the eyelid. They tend to go on patchy, feel a bit flaky, and fade off pretty quickly. I included a swatch photo on my arm — even with a generous application, the colors were still powdery, uneven, and wore off fast. I say all this with love, because Ulta has so many great products… but if you're looking for shadows that really perform, Morphe and ColourPop (also cruelty-free) are doing a much better job right now with pigment, payoff, and blendability. Hoping Ulta reformulates these someday, because the shade selection is gorgeous — the formula just needs a boost.
