Why do your caps change color?

All Blue Lizard lotions are packaged in tubes featuring our Smart Cap® Technology—the cap color changes to blue in harmful UV light. With our Smart Cap® Technology, you’ll always know when harmful UV light is present.

Does Blue Lizard sunscreen provide broad-spectrum protection?

Yes, all Blue Lizard Sunscreen products provide broad spectrum coverage for UVA and UVB protection.

Is Blue Lizard sunscreen water-resistant or waterproof?

The FDA sets the standard for sunscreen water resistance claims in the United States. The FDA does not allow any sunscreen to claim that it is “waterproof,” “sweat-proof,” or capable of providing “all-day protection.”

Our SPF 50 sunscreen sticks, sprays, and lotions and our SPF 15 Lip Balm are water resistant for 80 minutes (the highest water resistance claim allowed by the FDA).

Are Blue Lizard sunscreens reef-friendly or reef-safe?

We ♥ the Reef. While there is currently no nationwide definition for "reef-safe" or "reef-friendly,” Blue Lizard Sunscreens do not contain Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, making them reef-friendly as defined by the State of Hawaii. All Blue Lizard Sunscreens contain dermatologist-recommended Zinc Oxide to provide broad-spectrum sun protection.
