LORAC PRO Palette Fairytale Forest

This new Lorac formula seems to be hit and miss with people, but I love it! I like that you get two more shimmers than mattes instead of 50/50 like the other pro palettes. The mattes are buttery, though slightly powdery, and they do kick up a bit in the pan if you go in hard. I don't, however. No tapping off "excess." Instead I dip my brush once into a matte, blend onto my lid, then repeat to build up. I get zero fall out or mess this way. The tones of these mattes are the kinds of tones I use everyday; from light neutral transitional browns to midtoned cool-leaning mauve to cool taupe to reddish browns. The palette lacks deepening mattes, but I can pull out singles for that purpose. The shimmers! Perfect tones for me. They are gorgeous and I love this formula. Some are glittery, others are smooth, bright metallic. The glittery shades are more loosely pressed and are proned to hard pan, so I never use my finger to apply. Brushes only. I use a Glitter glue or setting spray with the Glitter finishes as well, otherwise I'll experience fallout. They're still very pretty and wearable dry, I just prefer to prevent any fallout. The metallics don't need Glitter glue or a spray, they apply almost true to pan onto the lids with a brush. I can make the prettiest eye looks with this palette. Unlike some palettes out there, not a single shade is a dud and I will use every single one of them. Some more than others, like the pinky Duochrome which is my favorite shade of Duochrome eyeshadow (similar to the 2018 limited edition Stylishly Merry from M @ c, which I own three of). Now I have something very similar in this palette to choose from. Other brands have released shades like this over the years and it has become very popular for good reason. All in all its a great value for this well-executed color story of lots of high quality eyeshadows in varying finishes in one sleek, compact palette. Love!!!

I am a HUGE Lorac eyeshadow fan. I have almost every pro palette, and Lorac's shimmer formula is my absolute favorite. I loved Soleil and Noir (minus a couple of Noir shades.) I was so disappointed in this palette! The mattes are great and exactly what you'd expect from this brand, but more than half of the shimmers are just so glittery - and many of those are translucent and difficult to build. Only 4 of the non-matte shades are actual shimmers that don't get glitter everywhere. I was so disappointed in this palette. If the glitters were shimmers or metallics this would have been a perfect palette!

I am a middle skin tone. This was a disappointment. I got it because of the glittery shadows but they have very little pay off of any. I have tried a white base, a skin colored base and a black base. Nothing really works. It also doesn't stay for a long time.

I have used this palette twice and I am so happy with it. The colors blend so beautifully and don't muddy up into each other. I can't wait to create more looks!

I was pretty excited for this palette to arrive but when I opened the box, I realized the shimmer shades are a lot more glittery than a true shimmer. The colors are pretty but it's just a bit too sparkly for me, so unfortunately I'm gonna be returning this one
