Love the Painterly! Looking to replace a discontinued product (eye shadow serum - rose petal), which appears to be similar to the MAC Princess Cut, but without the shimmer...any idea if there are plans to release more Matte shades?
- Asked by Helen
- Official Answer By MACYou never know what the future holds at MAC! For now, try layering the pretty pink in the MAC Connect In Colour Eyeshadow Palette Embedded In Burgundy over Painterly. It will create the matte, long-wearing look you had in mind, plus endless eye looks! Was this answer helpful to you

Which Paint Pots are shimmery? I'm looking for a replacement for a Dior black shimmery powder I purchased many years ago. I'm already using a cream eyeshadow base and a Paint Pot in Taylor Gray from below my brow to just above my eyelid crease and a small amout of the black shimmery shadow at my eyelid crease but that eyeshadow powder is almost gone and I need a replacement. I have those large eyelids and deep set large eyes which are gray sometimes and blue or green depending on how the light hits them so I never know what color to go with.

- Official Answer By MACWe completely understand wanting to replace your favorite shimmer! For something similar, try our Paint Pot in Black Mirror. It's a black shade with a soft shimmer that might provide the same vibe. You might also enjoy Vintage Selection, Princess Cut, or Bougie for an extra glow, especially with those gorgeous multi-toned eyes! Additionally, consider the Dazzleshadow Eye Shadow Sticks for a stunning metallic finish. Was this answer helpful to you

Once this opened, how long is it safe to use before it should be discarded.
- Asked by Made Up
- Official Answer By MACHey there and thanks for reaching out! Some products include a Period After Opening (PAO) number that indicates the number of months within which an opened product should be used or replaced. Once a product is opened and used, its integrity can be affected by such things as exposure to environmental conditions or from contact with the user's skin. If a product is not fully used following that time frame, we suggest replacing it in order to assure product integrity. Unopened products should be good for at least 3 years under normal use conditions provided they are not exposed to extreme heat or cold. Was this answer helpful to you

What brush is best to apply this with to be used as a primer?
- Asked by Sue
- Official Answer By MACHey there, and thanks for reaching out! With the MAC Paint Pots, I like to use my finger to smudge them across the eyelids for a wash of colour or pack on the pigment with the MAC #242 Synthetic Shader Powder Makeup Eyeshadow Brush! Follow with MAC #217 Synthetic Eyeshadow Blending Brush to soften edges into the crease. Finish with your favourite eyeshadows on top and enjoy! Was this answer helpful to you

Highly Versatile!
Originally I purchased this in Constructavist to be a strong base colour for my darker shadows and it worked beautifully. It wasn't till I tried the shade Painterly, however, that the product's full potential was revealed. I now use that shade as my only eyelid primer. It creates a smooth base that ...

Colors, texture coverage vary
I purchased three of these a couple of weeks ago after having previously tried some colors. Overall here is the review of each color I have: Painterly- Good basic eye base or for those days when you want bare but not red eyelids. It has no sparkle but doesn't give a matte dry look. Works well under ...

Indestructible primer & eyeshadow
My introduction to MAC paint pots was using the black one with a brush as a long-wearing, easy to use gel eyeliner, which you could do with almost any of them. The one I use most and will always use is Painterly. It's almost a perfect match to my skin tone, so I either use it to brighten up my eye area on minimal makeup days, or as a primer. Eye primers and I typically do not get along. Most others I've tried either lift up when i try to blend out my eye makeup, or are so dry or tacky they simply don't allow blending. Applying makeup over properly applied Painterly is easy as applying makeup directly to my skin, except it stays in place all day. Application can be tricky til you get the hang of it. A tiny bit goes a long way, and you have about 15 seconds to blend it out before you absolutely can't. Once it dries, it will not blend or budge. Coverage is buildable, and this will look dry and cakey if you use too much. Less is more. I personally find brushes useless for primer and just use my fingertip. Don't blind buy these- go to the store and use a tester because some colors don't look the same as in the pot. Bougie, for instance, appears dark brown with blue flecks, but blends out to a hard to wear earthy red with green flecks,
Not good
It creased, it was dry looking and the color was darker than expected.
