Use it as the first step in your double cleansing routine. Warm a small scoop of the cleansing balm between dry palms and massage over dry skin. Wet your hands with a little water and massage the face to emulsify the oil. Rinse well with warm water and pat dry. Follow with a water-based cleanser.

Do I need to wet my face before I use the cleansing balm?

- Official Answer By Hanskin - Brand EngageHI! You do not need to wet your face, it works best when you warm a small scoop of the cleansing balm between your hands and massage into your dry skin. Makes my skin feel clean but won't take off all my makeup
The Hanskin Pore Cleansing Balm helps my face feel refreshed after taking off my makeup, probably because of the chemical exfoliants in it. I like the scent of it (reminds me of the spa) and the sustainable aspect to the product (don't need cotton pads/wipes). At first my face doesn't feel dried out...

The balm is highly effective. Leaves my skin clean. Great price compared to similar products.
Not for me
I wasn't sure what I was going to expect. I wanted this product to work, but unfortunately it wasn't for me. It felt soft on the skin but immediately after I applied and rinsed with water, my skin was red, almost like I scrub my face with pomade. It was like an allergic reaction. I use the clinique version, and I have never had a skin reaction. I don't think this is good for very sensitive skin.
Love It but Can't Use It
This product was wonderful on smoothing out my forehead texture, and evening out my T Zone. Unfortunately, it also caused almost immediate breakouts in my hairline. I was even extra careful and only used the product on my T Zone, but still got painful bumps in my hairline. I wish I could use this because it does work!!!

it takes off waterproof mascara better than Clinique Take the Day Off or It Cosmetics bye bye makeup. It has a lemony scent but it doesn't bother me.
