Am I able to just use this as a cleansing oil step and not apply water? Or is this considered a pre-cleanser?
Asked by Jazz
Official Answer By Kiehl's - BE
Hello! The Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil is a lightweight makeup-removing oil cleanser that leaves skin soft and replenished. To use this product you must dispense 3-4 pumps into dry or wet hands, massage oil cleanser into dry skin including eye area, add water, and massage skin to emulsify. Then you can proceed by rinsing with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft towel. If you have any further questions or concerns, you can certainly contact us at 1-800-543-4572. Q
Is Kiehl's products and this cleansing oil gluten free? Thanks
Asked by Pen
Official Answer By Kiehl's - BE
Hi there! Most ingredients derived from grain sources are highly refined and retain no traces of gluten proteins. For less refined ingredients from natural sources, [brand name] has established strict limits on the level of potentially allergenic proteins. Since individuals exhibit a wide range of sensitivities to these proteins, if you have any questions or concerns you should discuss with your medical care provider. All the ingredients we use in a product are listed on the package or the label of the product itself. For products too small to accommodate the list, a separate ingredient list is available on the display unit in the store for your convenience. Since some ingredients are known by more than one name, we use the standard industry FDA-recognized names. A review of the ingredients that are listed on all of our products or packages will alert you to the presence of this type of ingredient. We hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you

Fabulously unexpected!

What an absolutely fantastic product! I got it in a great little sample pack of all Keihl's products. I was apprehensive to use it, as I have never used an oil as a face wash before. However, after recently starting to use retinol, my skin has been dry and peeling, and I was willing to use anything ...

Don't understand the rave reviews

I don't understand how so many people think this product is great. I've been using it since June and haven't been able to get over the weird, rancid-like smell it has. I can smell the "botanical" aspect, but there's also something really funny about it, and it's not good. This product will remove ...

Expected more from this because of the name brand and price but it was average compared to all the other cleaning oils i used in the past. I wouldn't buy it again.

Although this product is advertised as non comedogenic it has multiple potential pore clogging ingredients. I would not reccomend for acne prone skin.

Worth it

By BB

From Chesterfield, VA

I've purchased this twice but recently tried to switch to a more inexpensive oil cleanser since my skin was "doing well". Two weeks without this product and I had dry patches and breakouts. I guess this was my secret holy grail the whole time. I'm never using another oil cleanser again- this one is THAT GIRL.

My favorite first cleanse

By Rachel

From Michigan

I've tried a number of cleansing oils and balms, and this is my favorite. It removes makeup very well, and rinses off easily without leaving a ton of greasy residue for my cleanser to handle.

Verified Buyer

I stumbled on this product when a salesperson used it to cleanse my hand where I had sampled a lip stain. It worked amazingly well, and I fell in love with the scent. This is now the only product I use to remove my eye makeup. The oil itself is smooth, and the scent is light. It does not burn the eyes. I also don't have to scrub; the makeup is easily removed with just gentle massaging of the oil into my skin. Rinses clean and doesn't leave my skin feeling raw or dry.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
