How is it that my fondness for Decorte fragrances grows stronger with each one I experience? I tested these in no specific order, so I could be completely surprised by the first whiff, and Kimono Rin almost brought me to my knees! Scent: The initial burst of Japanese plum (ume) awakens the senses like a bright, sweet, floral breeze on a warm morning. The heart notes remind me of my West Virginia grandmothers garden and the velvety white petals of her magnolias. After about 30 minutes, the sweet/warm patchouli notes prevail. Some people have a love/hate relationship with patchouli, but Ive been wearing the original Angel from Thierry Mugler since the 90s, which also has plum, vanilla, and patchouli, so Im in the love camp here. Kimono Rin will definitely be an early summer go-to for me (if I can make the bottle last that long). Where I Would Wear It: Im not particularly religious (although I do consider myself spiritual) but this would be a beautiful fragrance for church, my best friends wedding, Easter, or Mothers Day. It sings to my spirit and may very well be my favorite fragrance in the Kimono Collection. One more to test, so stay tuned! Packaging: With each passing glance, the Decorte bottles and their obi ribbons make me feel more and more feminine. The gray ribbon has an elegance to it without being overtly feminine in hue. Once again, the atomizer is excellent and spritzes a slightly diffuse fragrance instead of a concentrated blast.Closing Thoughts: Ume is always a joyful scent for me and was once the treasured scent of my beloved Sulwhasoo FCAS when they released a limited edition plum blossom version several years ago. I was really excited to try this luxurious Eau de Toilette from this beautiful J-beauty brand and I love to share my first impressions about this fragrance. This is a very nice fruity and floral scent. Once sprayed on I immediately smell the refreshing grapefruit and Japanese plump but then it combines beautifully with the gorgeous floral notes of jasmine, rose and magnolia. It reminds me so much of my wedding bouquet with roses and jasmine. The scent keeps on evolving during the day and there is a hint of the warmer notes of vanilla and vetiver. As soon as I smelled this delightful fresh clean scent I could tell it had notes of grapefruit and it gave me an instant sensation of Wake up and Go! I cant say another scent has given me a pep in my step but this one is my favorite out of all 5 that Decorte has to offer. I will in the future look for anything with Japanese plum because of how much Im in love with it. I have been a hairdresser mor then a decade and I can not say that this makes me think of any other skin or haircare line no matter which essentials oils they use. I put this all over the front of my hair so I could have the energy burst all day. And I did get an immediate compliment Oh you smell good as I leaned over my clients throughout the day. Love that!
