Mass appealing, familiar yet distinctive blue fragrance

I've worn Gucci Guilty EDT Intense Pour Homme five or six times now and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It opens with a familiar fresh, aquatic blue scent which I personally can't get enough of. I'm reminded of Bleu de Chanel at first, but the middle/dry down are totally different and unique to me, wh...ich I love. The middle adds complexity beyond the typical blue fragrance with some floral notes, but the dry down is decidedly unique and addictive. Smoky, woody, masculine base notes. Just great stuff. I looked up the specific notes and accords, and found palo santo must be that addictive woody note I'm loving so much. I wasn't familiar with palo santo prior to smelling this. In my research I learned this was crafted by Paul Guerlain. I've only smelled a couple of his colognes before, but I know the name and that he's revered in the world of fragrance. I can see (smell) why! This clearly is a very thoughtfully crafted cologne and one I look forward to wearing often. Additionally, my wife really likes it. Scent: 10/10. What can I say? I love it. Projection: This quality is tough to judge but based on other fragrances I own this is probably a 7/10. Sillage: Again, tough to objectively judge, but people are noticing when I pass by so I'll go 8/10. Longevity: This is the only characteristic where I'm desiring more, though that's typical for blue fragrances so I can't really take points off. I get a solid 4-5 hours of performance before becoming a skin scent, perhaps longer but that's what my nose can detect. I judge it a 6/10. Again, maybe I'm going noseblind, but don't we always want more longevity? Overall it's a familiar, mass appealing, yet distinctive cologne with its own signature. That's what makes it good to me. Highly recommended.
