- Q
What's the difference between this product and the glossy glaze?
- Asked by sarah
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ is a semi-permanent that deposits color and deep conditions—perfect for boosting or refreshing your shade. Glossy Glaze is a quick shine treatment with a hue of tint. Some shades, like Cool Blonde, offer subtle toning effects, but it doesn’t deposit color like Gloss+.(some shades tone, like Cool Blonde) but doesn’t deposit color like Gloss+. Use Gloss+ for color, Glossy Glaze for shine! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
would the color run if your and stain your clothes hair gets wet from the shower or pool or beach?
- Asked by Dee
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageAfter your initial Gloss+ application and rinse, it’s normal for a small amount of color to wash out—but once your hair is dry, you’re good to go! The color won’t continue to run or stain your clothes if your hair gets wet at the beach, in the pool, or the shower. That said, chlorine and saltwater can cause color to fade more quickly, so if you're spending time in the sun or water, we recommend using a UV or color protectant spray to help preserve your tone and shine. Rinsing with clean water and applying a leave-in conditioner after swimming can also help maintain the vibrancy of your Gloss+ results. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Hi there! I have natural 60%gray with dark brown hair and want my gray hair to look more fresh and not yellow. Will this product work?
- Asked by Yezi
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ is a great way to add tone, shine, and softness to gray hair—but it won’t fully cover grays. If your goal is to freshen up dull or yellowing grays, we’d recommend trying Gloss+ in Sheer (for shine only) or pairing with a toning product specifically made to neutralize yellow tones—like our Gloss+ Toning Purple (if your hair is light enough for it to be effective). If you're looking to maintain contrast between your dark brown and grays while keeping them bright and clean-looking, Gloss+ Sheer can help enhance shine without depositing color. Just be sure to apply on clean, damp hair, and as always, do a strand test to see how your hair reacts! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
My hair became red after balayage but I want to bring it back to a warm reddish brown with more emphasis on the brown. My natural hair is already a very dark brown. Which gloss would I use? I plan to use the green toner first to try and dull the brassiness
- Asked by Ally
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGreat plan! If you're using a green toner first to tone down the red, follow up with Gloss+ in Medium Brown or Dark Brown—depending on how deep and rich you want the final result. Both shades can help balance out warmth and bring your color closer to a dimensional brown while still allowing subtle warmth to peek through. If you're open to it, you can also mix the two shades to customize your tone even further. Many users love personalizing their color this way to get just the right depth and finish. Just be sure to apply Gloss+ to clean, damp hair after rinsing out the toner, and do a strand test first to see how the color settles on your balayage. This combo should help tone down the red and bring your color closer to the soft, rich brown you're going for!Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I did one application of the product and it made more of a change with the underside of my hair than the top. Can I do a second application on just the top section?
- Asked by Mae
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageYes, you can absolutely reapply Gloss+ on just the top section! The areas of your hair that are more porous (like the underside or previously untreated parts) tend to absorb semi-permanent color differently than hair that’s been lightened or processed. Feel free to focus your second application on the top section to help even things out. Just make sure to apply to clean, damp hair, and let it sit for up to 20 minutes depending on your desired intensity. Over time, the color will blend more naturally with repeated use!Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Does it cover grays?
- Asked by Becky
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ Golden Blonde won’t fully cover gray hair like a permanent dye, but it can help blend and soften the appearance of grays by adding tone, shine, and warmth. If you're looking for full gray coverage, we recommend trying a permanent or root touch-up solution. But if you're okay with a more natural, blended look—Gloss+ Is still great to use in-between permanent colorsWas this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can I use this right after using the root touch up kit in the same color?
- Asked by Cat
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageAbsolutely! While our Root Touch-Up Kit isn’t available in Golden Blonde, you can pair Gloss+ Golden Blonde with the Medium Blonde Root Touch-Up Kit for a seamless look. Apply the Root Touch-Up Kit first to cover regrowth, then follow up with Gloss+ on clean, damp hair to refresh your mids and ends with shine, softness, and a golden boost. It’s a perfect combo for blending roots with the rest of your color! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I had a light balayage, I wanted to bring back the light copper tones I originally had from the salon…I bought the "copper" color in store and this is just straight red lol. Will this eventually fade over time back to my blonde or did I just screw my hair up?
- Asked by AKim
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageNo worries—you didn’t mess up your hair! Gloss+ is a semi-permanent color, so it will fade gradually with each wash, especially on pre-lightened or porous hair. Since Copper is one of our most vibrant shades, it can come through bolder than expected, especially on blonde or balayaged hair. We recommend matching the Gloss+ shade that is the closest to the light part of your hair. If you have blonde balayage with a slightly reddish tone, try our Strawberry shade for a few minutes on a few hair strands. For next time, a good rule of thumb is to match your Gloss+ shade to the lightest part of your hair for a more balanced result. In the meantime, you can help the color fade faster by washing with a clarifying shampoo and rinsing with warm water. And don’t worry—your blonde isn’t gone for good! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
My hair is very bleached out from the sun. What color would you recommend for hair that's almost white?? Just trying to tone it down a bit.
- Asked by Renée
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageIf your hair is nearly white and you’re looking to tone it down, we’d recommend checking out our Gloss+ Toning Purple for Blonde & Silver Hair. It’s made to gently neutralize unwanted yellow or brassy tones while adding shine and softness. Gloss+ Golden Blonde, on the other hand, adds warmth—so it may make your hair appear more golden rather than cooler. A quick strand test is always a good idea to see how your hair reacts! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can you use the Gloss+ at the same time as Root Touch-Up?
- Asked by BB
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageYou can definitely use both—just not at the exact same time. We recommend applying your Root Touch-Up Kit first to cover grays or regrowth at the roots. Once that’s rinsed, follow up with Gloss+ to refresh your mids to ends with added shine and tone. Using them together in this order gives you the best all-over result! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
My hair color is dark brown and my stylist put blonde highlights throughout my hair. What color should i use to darken the highlights to a light brown?
- Asked by Jenny L
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageIf you're looking to soften your blonde highlights to a light brown that blends better with your dark base, try Gloss+ in Light Brown or Caramel. Light Brown gives a cooler, more neutral tone, while Caramel adds warmth and richness. Since Gloss+ is semi-permanent, it won’t lighten your base—it just adds depth and shine to what's already there. Always do a strand test first to see which tone you love best! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Are you supposed to use conditioner after rising it out?
- Asked by erin
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageNo need! Gloss+ is a deep-conditioning formula that adds moisture and softness on its own—no additional conditioner is necessary after rinsing. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Does it work on gray hair ?
- Asked by Amber
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ doesn’t provide full gray coverage like permanent color, but it can help temporarily blend and soften the look of grays by adding tone and shineWas this answer helpful to you
- Q
I have dark brown hair with caramel highlights, would the black affect the highlights or just darken them?
- Asked by Dania
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ in Black will darken both your natural hair and highlights. If you'd like to preserve the caramel tones, consider using Dark Brown or a more neutral shade instead. Was this answer helpful to you

I've read all of the question and answers and not once was the golden blonde shade recommended to give warmth to ashy blonde highlights. Why? That's what I am looking for. I have a level 10 bleach blonde highlights throughout my medium brown hair that have gone way too light making them look ashy/gray. Will the golden blonde give warmth to them or make them too yellow?
- Asked by Mabel le
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageGloss+ in Golden Blonde is perfect for adding warmth to ashy or cool-toned blonde highlights. It enhances golden tones for a sunnier finish. Was this answer helpful to you

Seems to work
I really hesitated to buy this because of the price and I wasn't sure how it would work but Ulta has such a libral return policy I thought I would try it. I used this when my hair had a lot of gray roots and I should have been using a box color like I usually do so this was a pretty tough test of th...

Does not work!
Discovered this at Ulta by accident. I was excited about this product. I'm getting tired of root touch ups every 2 weeks. Well it did nothing. I left it on for 40 mins. As I was waiting, it looked like my roots were turning golden brown. I needed darker, but I would have been fine with it. Washed ...

Didn't Do Anything
Hair Type Wavy Hair
I had high hopes for this gloss as the reviews/articles said it would add shine and color. Sadly disappointed on both fronts and product was returned.
Fan of this gloss!
Hair Type Straight Hair
I love the clear / sheer gloss and the black one! I use the clear instead of my conditioner, and I use the black one to temporarily cover my gray sprouts and all over rich color! I leave the clear one on for 5 minutes if I'm in a rush but otherwise I leave both in for 15 minutes.
Will NOT Buy Again
Hair Type Wavy Hair
This product left my hair BLOTCHY as it did with other users. I Always read and follow instructions. Have used several similar products but never had results like this. Product was also so thick you could not pump it. Can't recommend to anyone. Maybe a bad batch? Returning.
Not for me
Hair Type Very Curly Hair
The two times I used DP Hue (one copper one auburn) the color on my hair was way off. I had brown hair with some strands of blonde poking through and using the copper I ended up with Maniac Panic bright red, which I was not expecting and slightly darker red with auburn. Could be my start point but these did NOT work for me.
Super impressed!
Hair Type Straight Hair
I am writing this after using this product because I am surprised at so many negative comments. I absolutely LOVED this product. I have naturally dirty blonde hair with light blonde highlights…. The golden blonde shade gave my hair life when it was dull…..it was unbelievably soft after using and looked like I just got fresh color. I made sure to wash and conditioner my hair first, as for a smell… I didn't notice anything and didn't need to use too much to cover my long hair. I would definitely recommend!!!
