- Q
Would this brush work well for applying a cream blush (such as the Honest Beauty creme cheek blush)? Or any other brush you'd recommend for applying that?
- Asked by Curious Makeup Consumer
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi! This brush would be great for this, as it works well with cream and liquid products! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I heard this brush is streaky is this true?is this brush good if you love full coverage foundation and since I'm a beginner do you prefer the expert face brush or the buffing brush?
- Asked by Fs
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there - GREAT question! But it's honestly like asking which you like better, cakes or cookies! :) The short answer is that they are both amazing brushes. One of the best things about our brushes overall is that they are of such high quality & blend so well that they don't streak (so long as you blend like a champ)! The difference between the expert face brush & the buffing brush essentially is the buffing brush bristles are slightly longer and a tiny bit "fluffier". What that means is you're going to get slightly less coverage than you would with the Expert Face. So, if you want a fuller coverage look, go with Expert Face. If you want something slightly more airbrushed & natural, the buffing brush would work. I don't think you can go wrong! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can this brush be used to apply pressed powder foundation? Such as the Mac studio fix plus powder?
- Asked by Jay
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there - this brush is my absolute favorite and I use it with that exact foundation! I think you will really like the coverage and the blending ability with this brush. It's one of our best sellers! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can this brush be used to blend when contouring?
- Asked by Sunny
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there - great question! In addition to foundation application, I actually also use this brush to blend my contour, so yes, it does work beautifully for that. The other brush I am over the moon for in terms of getting the perfect contour is our new Blend+Blur Contour brush - the bristles are dense, just like this Expert Face Brush, but there's something about the handle & the way you hold the brush that makes this absolutely ideal for contouring. That brush is found here: https://www.ulta.com/blend-blur-contour-brush?productId=xlsImpprod16861017Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I have already brought this brush, but can this brush be used for buffing and blending?

I'm looking to try Bare Minerals for myself and my daughter. While I'm looking for a fuller coverage I would like her to have a lighter coverage. This will be her 1st time wearing makeup so I want to start her out slow. Will this brush work well for both of us or should I get her something like the RT Powder Brush?
- Asked by Lin
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Lin, That is super exciting for both of you guys! :) And how awesome you're doing that together. It can be pretty confusing to know which brush goes with what product, even if you're an expert on makeup! One of the reasons I love our Expert Face Brush so much (and why it's our #1 selling brush) is because you can use it for both light and fuller coverage, so I think it would be perfect for you both. If you want to really make her day, you could buy her a brush (or a few) from our beautiful new collection, Brush Crush, found here: https://www.ulta.com/ulta/a/_/Ntt-brush%20crush/Nty-1?Dy=1&ciSelector=searchResults. The Powder Brush and Complexion Brush in this collection would work great for her! Thanks! And good luck! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is your brand cruelty free?
- Asked by Jordan Hedley
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Jordan, Yes, our brand is cruelty free. We do not use any animal hair/natural hair for our brush bristles. They are a high quality synthetic called taklon and we believe they actually work even better than animal hair, so bonus! :) Thanks. Was this answer helpful to you

- Q
Hi real techniques! I was wondering, is this brush soft?
- Asked by Liv
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertI use this brush every day and the bristles are dense, so it's not "fluffy" because it's meant to be used as a buffing type of brush, but the bristles themselves are soft. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Do you think this brush would work well with the BareMinerals powder foundation? If not, what other brushes would you recommend?
- Asked by Tasnim
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Tasnim, I think the Expert Face Brush would be great with BareMinerals powder. A bit part of the application of the powder is the buffing and blending, which this brush is *perfect* for. Hope that helps! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can I use this brush instead of the RT Powder Brush with my Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation for fuller coverage?
- Asked by Maddi
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHI Maddi, That literally is the exact combo I use and I love it. The Powder Brush is good if you want very light coverage, but if you're like me and want fuller, the Expert Face Brush is awesome for that. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Would this or the sculpting brush be better for liquid foundation. Also what would be the best blush brush in your collection.
- Asked by Jen
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Jen, I love the Expert Face Brush for liquid foundation. Overall, I've found the rounded (non-angled) brush head is better for all over application. You are definitely spot on for that one! :) For the blush brush, I actually have two favorites, depending on the look. If you want overall rosy cheeks, color that looks like a natural hue, the Real Techniques Blush Brush is amazing (http://www.ulta.com/blush-brush?productId=xlsImpprod3220067). The tapered head gives you control, but not too contoured. However, if you want very precise application, like color over a contour, the Sculpting Brush you mentioned (http://www.ulta.com/sculpting-brush?productId=xlsImpprod11861065) is awesome. Hope that helps! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can this brush be used for powder?
- Asked by Anu
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Anu I love this brush so much. I do - it's one that I can't really live without. But to apply powder, I think you would need a different bristle cut and density, and I don't think this brush would necessarily be able to apply loose powder the way others should, despite how great it is. I would recommend a brush with a fluffier head to use with the products you're talking about. Here are a couple of really good ones: http://www.ulta.com/bold-metals-100-arched-powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod11831007 http://www.ulta.com/powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod3220077 Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you

My go to for applying liquid foundation
I bought this baby, and I need to invest in more. I'm 38 and it is important to have a smooth application. If your looking for an airbrushed finish this brush will get the job done and more. I highly recommend it...

A Disappointment!
I bought this brush after having read so many good reviews on it, but I am incredibly disappointed. My brush started shedding so incredibly much from day 1, it got to a point where hairs would come loose while I was applying my foundation and they would just stick everywhere on my face.

love this brush! so beginniner friendly
this is such a good makeup brush. this is only the second liquid foundation brush I've ever bought, after previously using powder foundation brushes (for powder obvi lol) & beauty blenders for liquids. I've been trying to transition into brushes & this was the perfect choice! it's affordable(!!!), it blends well with no brush strokes, has a good weight & handfeel to it if that makes sense. I feel like it doesn't just absorb & hog all the product, which was my main concern. I even started "priming" my brushes for a less is more approach (the way Katie Jane Hughes does it 🩷) & find it easy to do with this brush. no shedding bristles either like other cheap brushes have done! so far real techniques has never let me down! 🤞
Not long lasting
I loved this brush but about 2 months after purchasing the bristles either went up into the metal or the metal started going down. Intried to use it and it felt really hard. I had to check and make sure it was rhe right brush.
Contour brush
Loveeeee
It's ok
I purchased this to try a different way to apply my foundation. It leaves streaks and I have bristles left behind I have to pick off and reswipe. I don't hate it but hoped it would be what I was looking for at the good price.
I would recommend this foundation brush.
Smoothes and evens out the foundation and it's great!!
