Not for Beginners
This brush works really well so long as you know how to use it. You can't use it like a round brush that only has plastic bristles — you'll pull out hair that way. Boar bristles offer a lot more tension and so there's more pull, one strong yank and you'll see hair torn out. Nylon bristles are more forgiving in this respect so if you're a beginner, I would go that route. I tried this brush out last night and my hair looks great today! Everyone has mentioned how amazing my hair looks. There is so much volume to my hair which has a fine texture. I do think that if you're looking to straighten out slightly curly or wavy hair, this will work well. However, I don't this this one will work well for people with super tight curls in their hair. My best tip is to slowly roll the hair on the brush and slowly roll it off for the first couple of passes. Once the hair is a little bit more damp than wet, you can start styling it. Boar bristle brushes always take longer to dry with but the results are so worth it!

Good combination of natural boar bristle and other materials

I've always used a completely natural boar bristle brush whenever possible. This company no longer makes them so I decided to buy this. It is a really good brush, and I'm glad that I found this as an alternative to the discontinued brush. I have wavy hair and usually blow dry it out to be more straight. This gives me great volume.
