Q&A

Q
Is this similar to the Orly Ridge Filler? My nails seem stronger when I use your ridge filler, but I no longer can find it.
Asked by Sue
Official Answer By Orly
Ridge Filler and Bonder are both basecoats. Unfortunately Ridge Filler has been discontinued and is no longer available. Bonder is one of our most popular products. Its unique rubberized formula grips lacquer to the nail surface for lasting adhesion and allows lacquer to be flexible which prevents chipping. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Will this work with every nail polish or just this brand?

Can this be used under LED light shellac nail polishes? Like with red carpet products? Thank you
Asked by LOULOU
Official Answer By Orly
We do not recommend using Bonder under LED or UV lights. It should only be used with regular nail lacquers. Was this answer helpful to you

Best Basecoat I've Ever Used

I came across Orly's Bonder when I wanted an alternative to gel manicures at the salon. I had gotten 4 gel manicures over a couple of months and my nails were in terrible shape as a result. As a total nail polish lover, I needed to find something to replace the gel manicure that would keep my polish...

Meh.

My nail color doesn't last any longer with this stuff than with a cheaper basecoat. In fact, once it starts chipping, it actually peels off.

Great for glitter nail polish

My daughter is sick of hearing me rave about this product. I've never had much luck with nail polish basecoats. This one is fantastic. Gentle on nails, inexpensive, bonds smoothly, makes manicure last noticeably longer. Especially effective with glitter nail polish. Looks a little orange in the bottle but goes on clear.

Causes peeling nails

Orly bonder caused my manicures to chip and my nails to peel. it took a ton of time and research to find that it wasn't me/my body, or choice of polish, but it was the ingredient Polyvinyl Butyral. This is the only product in my kit with this ingredient and aparently it's known to cause chipping, peeling, and brittleness of the natrual nail. If you already have peeling nails, I strongly recommend not using anything with PVB directly on the nail.

Keeps polish long lasting (1-2 weeks) even on nails that never keep polish for more than a day or two.

As A Fingernail Polish Junkie who wears several different textures & finishes this makes all of my manicures stay longer. I sculpt & craft and it endures the abuse I put my nails through

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
