Excellent Clean Foundation
I am extremely picky about foundations. Lancome Tient Idole Ultra is my HG (250 Bisque W), but I always enjoy trying new foundations, especially when they are clean and don't contain alcohol. I have tried a lot of the new foundations that released this year, both high-end and drugstore, and have returned them all because I didn't like the finish, feel or lack of wear time. Jane Iredale is not carried at my local Ulta yet, so I ordered three different shades hoping to find a match for my NC20 Asian-Caucasian warm, olive skin tone: M3, M4 and M5. M3 was too orange, M4 was too pink, but M5 was a dead-on match! The formula blended very easily on my skin, and has such a nice, skin-like finish. It wasn't matte on me, more of a demi-matte bordering on dewy, so I used a setting powder on top. I have acne scars, hyperpigmentation and melasma. I usually do one layer of foundation, and then spot cover the areas that need more concealing. Using this method, I could still see some of my darkest spots still a bit visible, so I did add extra concealer to those areas. I tested this foundation for 12 hours on a hot, southern California day spent walking several miles and hefting heavy groceries as I ran errands. It held up extremely well with no noticeable fading, caking or creasing. It did not cause any new breakouts or irritation. It wore comfortably on me, without causing my skin to become more oily or too dry. I am very impressed with this foundation and feel good knowing the clean ingredients aren't causing any detrimental effects. It will definitely be a staple in my makeup rotation now!
I initially received two shades
I initially received two shades from Influenster, M5 and M6, but received M8 later on as the other shades did not match me which is one of the issues i have with this foundation. When blended out, each shade looks much different than in the bottle and no longer match the shade descriptions online so finding your match is quite difficult. M5 was the close to the correct undertone (was just slightly too yellow) but was way to light for me. M6 was too light and too pink. And believe it or not, M8 actually ended up being the closest match-ever so slightly too dark but not nearly as dark as the swatch looks. I also think they should expand their range. When applying, the foundation felt heavy and didnt seem to have enough coverage to be considered full but once it dried down, I was pleasantly surprised! It felt much lighter on the skin and the finish was beautiful and covered more than I thought, though still not as full as other foundations. Regardless, it looked great. I still dont think its the foundation for me as I have dry skin and even well-moisturized, the foundation ended up showing texture later in the day (I didnt set w powder or spray as I wanted to see how it lasted). But for someone with oily/normal skin, this might be worth a try. Just be careful choosing shades and set it!
At this price I'm pretty disappointed. Color match was great and does not oxidize, but that's where the pros ended for me. Definitely not full coverage, didn't blend well and shifts/splotchy. If you're an oilslick like me… this is a total waste. Maybe good for dryer skin? Going back to Dior at this price point and won't be purchasing this one again.
It's great, goes on easy
It's great, goes on easy and stays on all day, feels wonderful.
I don't usually wear foundation
I don't usually wear foundation because I don't like the feel of it on my face or the cake-y look. I do t really feel this on, though. And as long as my skin is exfoliated and moisturized, it goes on really smoothly. It's just the right amount of coverage for me - not too much or too little. Will buy again especially if there's a sale.
This is a nice product
This is a nice product but it is not enough coverage for my skin. This would be good for someone who has reasonably good skin and only desires evening out skin tone, light to medium coverage.
Hard to pick the right color
I use Amber, Warm Sienna, Warm Silk, Radiant foundation depending on the occasions and seasons. I purchased M4 Beyond Matte. It was way too dark to put all over on my face. However, I noticed it's perfect as a concealer. I use this just over my dark spot area under on side cheeks, and finish with either Amazing Base or powder over it. It's hard to chose the right color. Higher number doesn't mean darker. I decided to try and see M5 would work. M4 was too dark for me, but M5 is alright. This is such a convenient to carry in the purse as you don't need a base cream or extra things. I wish it came with a sample size to find the right color. Using as a concealer, it lasts for long time though. I love it. I love the glass bottle too.
