How long should you wait before switching to the Advance Retinol if the Beginner doesn't irritate your skin after a month or two of use? I have had only minor breakouts and some dryness in one area so far. Thanks!
- Asked by Retinol Beginner
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Everyone's skin is different, but we recommend starting out with Beginner Retinol 0.1% for at least 3 months. If your skin can tolerate it well and you experience no redness or irritation, then you can start transitioning to Advanced Retinol Gel 0.5%. We always recommend patch testing first, and slowly start to incorporate the Advanced Retinol Gel 0.5% 2-3x a week. Was this answer helpful to you

Can cocokind beginner retinol gel be used with a bha toner?
- Asked by BrownBae
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Avoid using leave-on acids/exfoliants like glycolic and lactic acid, benzoyl peroxide, physical exfoliants, exfoliating pads, and other topical prescription medications when using retinol. Instead, just move them to your morning routine. For instance, you should move your BHA toner to your morning routine. Was this answer helpful to you

Hi! Only ingredient I see that I'm concerned about is soybean oil, which I've read can clog pores. Does the retinol counteract this?
- Asked by Jess
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! There is actually no FDA regulation for the term “comedogenic." In fact, there are no standardized tests that can accurately determine if an ingredient will or will not clog your pores or cause breakouts. Skin health is completely individual and dependent on genetics and lifestyle choices, including skincare! Everyone's skin is different but I do hope you'll give our retinol a try for yourself. We also always recommend patch testing our products on a small area of skin to see if our ingredients work for you!Was this answer helpful to you

First off, I would like show my appreciation for the awesome instructions on how to use this retinal gel. I have fairly sensitive skin and have had issues with retinols and tretinoins in the past. This retinol product goes on gently and I have had no drying or redness (I paired it at night with the ceramide serum and the polypeptide cream). However, it has increased my skin sensitivity; when I tried usi...

this is a great product for someone who's looking to incorporate retinol into their skincare routine. i've used other retinols in the past and my skin has always reacted poorly to it, but I decided to give this one a try and it does not disappoint! I started using this 1x a week along with the ceramide barrier serum + electrolyte water cream layered on top for the last two months and I am happy with how well my skin has tolerated it. I've already noticed a difference and I'm excited to see how my skin transforms with prolonged used.

So i love this and the stronger retinol they offer, but since I have slacked on retinol the gentler version has been my go to since my skin feels a little more sensitive when I used the stronger retinol (after taking a break). I use this nightly and layer with their serums.

The best beginner retinol there is. I took a break from retinol for awhile and used this to get back into it and it was amazing.
