Not bad for designer
I was torn between three and four stars for this, but ended up giving it 4 since I think it's probably a good choice for some people despite not being my personal preference. This release seems to get a lot of recognition for being unique and I was excited to give it a try as a result, but I think that praise needs to be tempered in that I could see it being unique for a designer fragrance, but there are several similar products. To me the opening of this reminds me a bit of a toned down Azzaro Chrome as an example (which has a bit more note diversity and punch despite being lower quality in general). There is a bit of sweet freshness and small amount of spiciness, though I wish the plum scent was a bit more distinctly plum rather than simply coming off as a bit generically sweet to my nose. While generally pleasant, to me this is just a bit too laundry scented for my personal preference and after two wears I intend to use the remainder of my sample as room freshener (which it will be good for).
There is longevity to the wear, I've experienced at least 8 hours, and once some of the top/middle notes wear off you still get depth with the earthier notes. That said, the scent definitely shifts so don't expect to get a similar experience throughout the wear and I recommend wearing a sample spray for a day before purchasing based off the opening. In terms of value, as an EDP I think of the ingredients as slightly higher quality than less pricey alternatives, but you still do not have to spend this amount of money to get this kind of scent unless you really enjoy the dry down. I would consider sampling this product if you enjoy clean "blue" designer scents, but I don't consider this worth the time if you're more of a niche fragrance wearer that likes punchy or incredibly unique scents. you enjoy scents with a punch,
For context on this review, please note that I typically use niche fragrances in the $300-$400 range by brands such as Creed, Xerjoff, Roja, etc. While there are a couple designer fragrances I have in only a slightly higher price range by Sisley, and the T'erre d'hermes EDP, most designer fragrances aren't my personal style despite being preferred by many people due to their mass appeal. I mention this, because if you are a fan of designer fragrances I'd focus on the positive aspects of this review and give it a try in store even if I personally will not be repurchasing.
The headline really says it all. It smells fine. It's not amazing, but it's not awful. It is pleasant, and it lasts a long time, but It doesn't wow me or my wife. I didn't get any comments either way on this scent from anyone around me.
If someone gave it to me as a gift, I'd wear it periodically. I don't know that I would go out of my way to buy it though. I could see how some people would enjoy it though. I imagine it just depends on the style of cologne that you are in to.
I bought it for my husband and he loved it.
Wonderful Bad Boy Cologne
