I have naturally thick, wavy hair and have always preferred to air dry over using a blow dryer. Every time I'd use a blow dryer, my hair would get so frizzy and fuzzy, no matter what heat protector I used. I've tried multiple times using different brushes and I'd always end up with the same results. I also should mention that I have weak muscles and problems with my nerves so standing for 30-45 minutes to fail at a blow out is nothing but a waste of time. I've been hearing about the hot air brushes from Revlon and John Frieda for over a year and have been wanting one so bad! So this year, I decided to buy myself one for my birthday!
Sadly, my local Ulta was sold out of the Revlon One-Step Volumizer and obviously didn't carry the John Frieda Volume Shine. I didn't want to wait to order either so I started looking at the Bed Head Blow Out Freak. It's the same price as the one by Revlon and seemed pretty similar. However, I felt unsure so I asked for help. I'm so glad I did, I was lead to the hot air brushes and was enthusiastically recommended either the Revlon or this one. As I said, they were sold out of the former, so I decided to get the latter. It was about $15 more, which kind of set me off from it. But with the "real talk" the sales woman had with me, she had me sold.
I LOVE this tool. I can easily and confidently create a smooth blow out with so pain or strain!
Most Helpful Critical Review Honest Review - Didn't meet expectations
I purchased this cautiously optimistic from the hundreds of reviews I read and online YouTube videos I watched. I was hoping that this could be that magic tool to finally calm my wavy, frizzy hair. This arrived today and here's my experience. First my hair type is blonde, shoulder-length, frizzy and wavy and is colored every 8-12 weeks. I used DreamCoat spray and Caviar blowout creme to help with the frizz and was hopeful this combination in addition to this styling dryer would give me the straight, frizz-free results so many others had.
I sectioned my hair and after a couple of minutes I noticed how unbelievably hot this dryer gets. This dryer is more of an oval shape than the circular shape I expected. I had this set on the highest setting to get the straight results I wanted. This dryer has hot air blowing fiercely all over the barrel. My bathroom is small and doesn't have windows and I had to have the door open and a fan on in addition to the air conditioning it became that hot. The hot air blew against my face when drying the sides of my hair and it was uncomfortable. I stopped partway through just to be able to cool down. Also, this dryer is huge, almost too big. My hair is shoulder length and this dryer felt too large for my hair. It was difficult to get to the roots of my hair because this dryer was that large. It is also very uncomfortable to hold for long period of time. I noticed when I set it down after a few minutes to answer a text, my hand was numb from holding it and it was difficult to move my fingers to text my daughter back. That feeling eventually went away. As a result, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has hand or wrist issues. It was also difficult for me to dry the back of my hair because this dryer was so large and I had trouble due to its size getting close enough to the roots in the back of my head and after I finished I realized there were parts still not dry. I still had to go over my hair with my straightener.

I've used this about three times already so far and I'm loving it. I don't have wavy or curly hair but I do use it to straighten and give it a nice curl at the bottom, so many people have already commented on my hair saying it looks healthy?!
Was great while it worked

I absolutely loved this for the first month I had it. By the second month it made a weird sound and a funny burning smell came out of it. The dryer died ☹️
Love it! But....

I love this hot brush. My hair has never felt better. My only problem with this is the handle is too big . My hand could barely wrap around it. Love the product! Just make with a small grip! Worth every penny!

Great for thick and curly hair
Mandy from Texas
I have super thick and curly hair and this did not disappoint I had used the revelon one before and was not pleased but due to the ceramic plates on this one it gets all up in there quickly drying. Love love love
Nicole from North Carolina
I am in love with this tool. I have super thick hair that is impossible to blow out (on my own) with a traditional dryer and round brush. With this, my hair goes from damp to a salon quality blowout in less than 20 mins. Prior to purchasing the hot tools, I purchased the Conair tool that is similar. While I did enjoy that, this is way better!
Yazz from Philadelphia pa
Had my hair done in 1/2 hour and it look great .
Love this product

A friend recommended this blowout tool to me after I commented on how great her hair looked. I immediately purchased it. I couldn't wait for it to arrive! When I tried it out, I was amazed how effortless it is. My hair dried quickly and evenly without all the frizz that I usually get. I am very pleased and I would also recommend this product! I recommend using a heat protector for your hair.
Silky smooth time saver

I have thick hair, and most of the time I have to dry it twice. Because my arms gets tired. You know the thickness that when you go to bed with wet hair and wake up with wet hair. Finally I dried my hair, blow out quality, in 20 mins. I'll never go back to roller brush and hand dryer !! Love mine
Great product at a great price!

Nicky from PUEBLO, CO
I can have wild, damp and slept on hair and this tool gets me out the door in ten minutes. Leaves hair so soft and silky vs a heat straightener

I have super thick, semi wavy hair that I usually just air dry overnight and then straighten. It took me maybe 20 minutes to do my hair with this, and it looks so good! I highly recommend this product and I cant wait to keep using it.

I have been using this product for about 8 months. I really love it! It gives me more volume, less drying time and a smooth finish. I almost never need my flat iron anymore!
Hot tools one step blowout styler

I have bought many products before this one. All claiming to dry my hair faster, and smoother. Nothing works like this tool. This is great for thick, coarse hair. My hair comes out smooth with lots of body.

First time buying
Jess from Houston,Tx
I've been used to a blow dryer for soo long. Owned a chi blow dryer that was useful for 7 years. Came across this brush blowout dryer. I still take about 20 mins with it. I part my hair in sections. I don't use a straightener afterwards. So far I'm doing great with it.
Better than the others
Emily from Michigan
So for those of you looking to see how this compares to the others, this one does not get nearly as hot as the others. I have long, thick hair. The others I've used (revlon, bed head) get hot so quick and you have to take breaks to let it cool down. Also it's probably rather damaging to your hair getting that hot...
This is still super fast at drying and easy to use. It does cost more, but I think it's much better. I've been using these for over six months and this is the better one. There is also a warranty.

I have cut my hair time in half and haven't pulled out an iron since I purchased
Sticking to my blow drier and round brush
carly from CT
Personally i hated this product. i know a lot of people absolutely love and swear by it but it made my hair look terrible. every time i use it i have to re do it with my blow drier. it leaves my hair looking frizzy and it doesn't stay straight. gives no volume at the top. id rather have a round brush. Sticking to my blow drier.
Love this Product!!
MBis from Fishers, IN
Works great! Easy to do hair with one hand, and my hair is thick, wavy, and frizzy too. It gives my hair the look like I just went to the salon and got a professional blow out! which i could never do myself before now. I actually got asked if I had just gotten my hair done at the salon the first day I used it! Would recommend this product to anyone especially if you have unruly hair like me.
Friz friz friz
Fine & curly from SLC UT
I really wanted this to substitute blow drying, then straightening. Thinking about returning, I don't think it's a good product for fine hair. It also burnt my fingers, my ears and my head. Not to mention I was SWEATING a lot while using the product, even on low setting. To be fair I'm going to look into some heat protectant and anti frizz and try again. If it's still no good, sending back. Would really like to find a product fine hair. 😭
This is an amazing awesome tool

Wouldn't buy it again

It stopped working after a month. I did like it while it worked. Easy to use, and it left my hair feeling smooth.
Why did I wait so long?!
SDW from Columbus, Ohio
Love it! So easy to use. It's all I've used since buying it. Does better when I let my hair dry a little more, or use blow dryer to take most of the moisture out. Also great for reviving Day 2 hair. For my shorter hair, I have a hard time getting the short under-cut layer. And could get more volume on top of brush was a little smaller. But overall, I love this thing! I am impressed with this tool!
