This has ceramides and niacinamide, which strengthen your skin's barrier to handle the gentle exfoliation it provides from salicylic acid, So, it has stopped my clogged pores on my face, cleared up the keratosis pilaris (bumps!) on my upper arms, smoothed my rough heels, gotten rid of my dry cuticles, and improved my wrinkles dramatically, but GENTLY. I use it as my face and body cream everyday-even on my lips to make them smoother. The best part is that while its hydrating, it is not shiny or greasy and works great under makeup. Don't know what I will do if this is ever discontinued!Most Helpful Critical ReviewGreat, but it broke me outI had really high hopes for this moisturizer, especially with the brand being so highly recommended by dermatologist. Personally, I like heavier creams as I like my skin to feel plump after an hour and not dry and right like some moisturizers can make your skin feel (I always notice this more with gel moisturizers). This was perfect. I could use the tiniest bit and it would slide on super smoothly and make me feel supple. It even had a kind of mattifying effect upon initial application which surprised me. Overnight it can leave your skin a bit oily, so it's definitely a moisturizer you go to bed with and wash off before applying a daytime moisturizer. Sadly, despite my liking of the product, it broke me out. I have combination skin and suffer from hormonal acne. I NEVER get any acne on my forehead, only my chin. This product caused a cluster of red bumps on my forehead. It came the night I first used this and got better after I stopped using it, so this is likely the culprit. The only thing I can think of is that it's not meant for the face. It doesn't explicitly say whether it's meant for face/body, but it does say to apply anywhere, so I figured it would be a multipurpose moisturizer. I am very sad to say that I will be returning. If you want to try this product, I would recommend testing it out on a small patch to see if it irritates your skin first. I've had it for a few weeks and it seems to have lessened my KP! It's thick so a little goes a long way. It will probably take me awhile before I go through my 12 oz tub. When I first got it I used it twice a day, morning and night, but my skin seemed to be irritated and a little bit itchy. I've since switched to using it once a day or every other day and it's achieved great results without irritation. It seems to work best when you apply it after showering. I cannot get over how amazing the SA line is — I have been on an exhausting and expensive trial & error skin journey for nearly 10 years to control my KP ("chicken skin"/"strawberry legs"). I've used every product there is under the sun only to ever see minor/temporary improvement. I have been embarrassed nearly my entire adult life because of KP, so much that I've made the continuous conscious effort to avoid showing my legs in public. Wearing shorts and skirts gave me anxiety and was a total nightmare. But that changes now with Ceraves SA line!! :D The most noticeable part is I actually feel moisturized beyond just the very surface of my skin. This cream makes my skin feel so plump and nourished while diminishing the horrible speckles & bumps of KP. Its fragrance-free, and a bit on the thicker side (a personal preference) so a little goes a long way! The little colored "dots" started fading after 48 hours (2 days of use)! If you decide to try it, make sure you wear sunscreen if your problem areas are going to be exposed to the sun since it does have resurfacing ingredients in it. I'm happy to report I do not experience any burning sensation when applying this to my skin. I would recommend this to EVERYBODY.
