I received this product for free from Influenster and Tangle Teezer in exchange for my honest review. I was excited to try the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler Plant Brush and couldn't wait for it to be delivered. As soon as it arrived, I opened the box, removed the retail packaging, and immediate...ly began to brush my wavy hair that hangs to the middle of my back. My first thought was that the handle is a little shorter than I'd prefer. I have average female adult-sized hands, and it felt a little uncomfortable while pulling the brush through my hair. I believe it would be more pleasant to grasp if it was 1-2 inches longer. I do like the texture and firmness of the bristles. They are not so flimsy that they bend uselessly, but also not so rigid that they claw the heck out of the scalp. They have just enough give to be gentle, yet effective. Regarding the bristles, I would prefer they were a tad longer. When using this brush on my hair while it's dry, the bristles were not long enough to reach my scalp. I do have full hair, but by no means super fluffy. I have never had an issue with any other brush not reaching my scalp. This was not a problem when brushing my hair while it was wet, and when the bristles did reach my scalp, they were quite lovely…a mini head massage! Another issue I had while using the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler Plant Brush was the number of strands of hair that came out each time I used it. I've included some photos showing how much hair was lost during one thorough brushing of my full head of hair, once when wet and once when dry. The brush was completely hair free before each of these used. As you can see in the pics, a substantial amount of hair was pulled out or broken. More so when my hair was dry than when it was wet. I've not seen this with other hairbrushes I've used. I don't typically deal with many tangles so I can't comment on the Tangle Teezer's effectiveness with removing them. I was happy the brush didn't cause frizz or flyaways. That's a PLUS in my book! I'm impressed with the aesthetics and visual appeal of the Ultimate Detangle Brush and appreciate its eco-friendly composition. I believe developing products that are earth-conscious is ALWAYS a good thing! Unfortunately, the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangle Plant Brush just isn't an ideal match for me. I would, however, recommend it for those with thinner or straight hair.
