Phthalates Phthalates are a group of chemicals used in hundreds of products, such as toys, vinyl flooring and wall covering, detergents, lubricating oils, food packaging, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and personal care products such as nail polish, hair sprays, aftershave lotions, soaps, shampoos, and perfumes. Historically, the phthalates used in cosmetic products have been dibutyl phthalate (DBP), used as a plasticizer in products such as nail polishes to reduce cracking by making them less brittle; dimethyl phthalate (DMP), used in hair sprays to help avoid stiffness by allowing them to form a flexible film on the hair; and diethyl phthalate (DEP), used as a solvent and fixative in fragrances. DEP can also function as an alcohol denaturant, rendering alcoholic products unfit for oral consumption. Huge Rev Lippie Fan
I'm a Revlon lipstick fan. It's creamy, comfortable, and reliable. I have many shades, and usually go for cool or neutral, bolder and interesting shades. I bought the color Afterglow by mistake...evidently, I clicked wrong. I thought I was getting a brighter pink lippy. Imagine my surprise when I found this shade is a gorgeous, slightly warm pink with a nearly imperceptable golden glow. So pretty! I feel like this shade has got a bad rap & I wanted to give it some love. Revlon has some truly magical pearl shades, that seem to almost change color on you & dry down to stay for hours. I strongly urge you to try at least one of them!
Lovely lipstick
These lippies are my go-to, won't break the bank lipsticks. On par with more expensive brands, I love the colors, and the smooth, long lasting formula.
Rediscovery
I used to use this many many years ago and I have no idea why I ever stopped! It's the perfect nude color for those of us with darker skin and hair, who when using the wrong shade of nude have our lips disappear and people end up asking if we are feeling alright! Goes on smoothly, covers well and lasts for a long time. I will be purchasing multiples so that I always have it in hand! A classic!
It's Good, But Only Sometimes
Now, when it's good, it's really good. My current tubes of Cherries in the Snow and Sassy Mauve are well-pigmented, creamy, and easy to apply, and I've had great luck with Pink Velvet, Rose Velvet, and Rum Raisin in the past. However, sometimes I've run into sheer, streaky colors that look very different from what I thought I was getting. Black Cherry and Mauvy Night were both abysmally patchy, requiring a lot more work just to make them even on my lips. Just overall such a disappointment in formula and application. Then there's the scent a lot of these suddenly gain after just a couple of months. I'm surprised I've never seen anyone mention it before, but after a time, these lipsticks can have a very off-putting metallic-y chemical-y scent. It makes me feel sick to my stomach, and I usually end up tossing them once that happens. Better to be safe than sorry. All that to say, I will use the tubes I have currently in my collection, and then I'll probably never buy another. The Russian Roulette of quality control isn't worth it, no matter how much money I'm supposedly saving.
Uncut Ruby = Bright Pink
So tired of these reds thst are just bright pink. Uncut ruby is NOT red.
