    How To Use

Put on gloves. Squeeze 1/2 tube of hair color into disposable bowl. Tightly screw the cap back on and save for next use. Add 1 packette of developer color activator to bowl and mix thoroughly using the applicator brush. Apply mixture to your noticeable gray areas, usually the hairline and part line. Apply product generously. Use the tip end of the applicator brush to part the hair in 1/4''- 1/2'' sections and continue to apply until the desired areas are completely saturated. Put processing cap on and set timer for 45 minutes. Keep the color on an additional 5-15 minutes for resistant gray hair. Using lukewarm water, rinse out color until water runs clear and follow with dpHUE Color Fresh Shampoo and Conditioner.

    Q
How long can you keep the color cream open till your next use?
    Asked by toots
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Once opened, the color crème in our Root Touch-Up Kit has a 12-month shelf life (you’ll see the open jar symbol on the box that says “12M”). That said, we recommend using it within 12 weeks for best results. Just make sure the cap is sealed tightly after your first use to prevent air from getting in. If it starts to oxidize, you might notice a color change—it won’t harm your hair, but it may not be as effective. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I consider myself to have a darker brown hair with a reddish hue. My esalon color states light brown with gold. Which color touch up should I purchase?
    Asked by bigbird
Official Answer By dpHUE Brand Engage TERMINATED
Hello! I would recommend going with the shade closest to your new growth. If you are in-between shades, I would suggest the lighter option. Hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Hi. I get my grey roots colored professionally. I'm a 5/6. I've been to multiple salons, and always end up with "hot roots." Will this happen with this product?
    Asked by AJ
Official Answer By dpHUE Brand Engage TERMINATED
Hello! Usually "hot roots" happen when you are lifting the hair. Our color is not intended to lift, but to cover gray's at your natural level. If you are a 5/6 and color your roots to be a 5/6 you should not experience "hot roots". Hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Hello! I have soft black hair and used very dark brown hair (4) on the old packaging which worked great for me. Should I use black or dark brown on the new packaging?
    Asked by Abela
Official Answer By dpHUE Brand Engage TERMINATED
Hello! If your hair is a "soft black" I would recommend the Black Root Touch-Up Kit. Hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
It seems that a limited number of colors are offered for the root touch up and are limited to lighter hair ranges, will Ulta ever carry the other colors offered by this line or at least included a couple options for darker shades?

    Q
I bought the medium brown color for my coily ethnic hair. Inside the kit was samples of a daily shampoo and conditioner to use right after my color to help prolong the color. The shampoo and conditioner made my hair INCREDIBLY SOFT AND MANAGEABLE! :) Could you please tell me if that shampoo and conditioner is sold separately? No product has ever made my hair feel so silky...ever! Thank you!

Hello! We are so happy to hear you loved the shampoo and conditioner! We have an updated version coming out soon! Check back at the beginning of April :) Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Hi! I am a natural medium dark brunette with quite a bit of grey. The rest of my hair is a light golden blonde from highlights. What color brown would be suitable to blend with the rest of my hair (highlighted portion). Medium brown? Dark blonde? Thank you!
    Asked by Mags
Official Answer By dpHUE Brand Engage TERMINATED
Hello! We keep our Root Touch Up Kit as gentle as possible, so it will not lighten your hair more than one shade. If you feel your natural hair color is between two shades, I would go with the lighter option to help blend into your highlights. Hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
My hair is a very dark brown, almost black. I do not know what root touch up color to use. I think I am darker than a level 4, but I my fair is not black. Should I use the 3.0 or should do 1/2 3.0 and 1/2 4.0?

    Q
I have medium to light brown hair. What color do you recommend as I see some reviews say the colors come out darker. Do you have a LIGHT BROWN color option. I do not have BLONDE hair however. Also will this product make my hair feel rough or soft like the salon. Thank you
    Asked by kimmy79
Official Answer By dpHUE Brand Engage TERMINATED
Hello! Based on your description, I would recommend the Root Touch Up Kit in a 7.0. Dark Blonde and Light Brown can be very similar, so do not be scared of the word "Blonde". We use the most gentle formula to achieve 100% gray coverage, so your hair should feel soft like the salon! Hope you love it!Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I am looking for something to get me between my 5 week appointments. How do you find the correct shade?
    Asked by rosie
Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Rosie, Our Root Touch-Up Kit is the perfect solution between salon appointments. We created a color board to help give you an idea of what each color looks like. Click the orange text that says "CLICK HERE for help selecting the right color for you" under the product details. If you're in between shades, choose the lighter one! You can always go darker very easily. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Is there a full scalp/head coverage kit? Need more than just root touch up. Thank you.
    Asked by PC
Verified Reply - Brand ExpertWe do not currently offer a full coverage kit. Our Root Touch-Up Kit has two applications per box, so you could use both applications at once for more coverage! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I have dirty blonde hair that is highlighted and I get the darker root growth; is this product strictly for gray roots or would it work for regular root touch ups between salon appointments?
    Asked by Nicole
Verified Reply - Brand ExpertOur Root Touch-Up Kit is meant to match your natural hair color (within a shade) to permanently cover up grays. It is not intended to lighten your hair to match highlights. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
What color do you recommend for dark copper red hair? I use the Burnt Copper deep conditioning/glossing treatment and I love the color. But none of the root touch up kits are auburn or reddish copper. Thanks
    Asked by Carol
Verified Reply - Brand ExpertOur Root Touch-Up Kits come in neutral colors - pick the color that's closest to your natural color (check out the color picker under "details" if you need help deciding). After coloring, do a Burnt Copper GLOSS+ treatment to blend! Was this answer helpful to you

First at home color- was so nervous. WORKED GREAT!

This was my first at home color. I have been battling with grays but wasn't happy with different stylist coloring jobs or price for not matching my color. I was so nervous to color myself but wanted to give it a shot and so happy I did. I have light brown hair and it's currently balayaged so I was n...

    Not for Blondes

Oh dear, this was bad. First off I'll say that this product is probably a good buy for brunettes, unfortunately I'm a blonde. My colorist was unable to reschedule my appointment due to a work schedule change, so I purchased the blonde shade of DP hue (it said blonde, and had a pleasantly yellow co...

I was hopeful this would be less damaging product to cover gray hair regrowth but unfortunately it turned ng gray roots bright red. I even left it on for 50 - 60 minutes.

    Disappointed with changes

    By Mel

    From Brick, NJ

I have been using this product for the past 2 years and have been very happy with the results, I dont mind paying more for higher quality. But i am very disappointed that there is now only one package of shampoo and conditioner for 2 applications of the product. This does not seem fair and this change was not noted on the box. I actually thought it was a mistake and was going to contact the company but after reading similar reviews, this is how it is now being packaged. Truly not fair to the consumer as it is being marketed as 2 full applications, clearly that is not the case.
