I have a short pixie cut and in between salon visits, I would like to curl my hair when it gets flat. For the shorter hair on the sides, could I use the 1/2 inch size marcel iron as opposed to a 1/2 flat iron? I have a mini 1/2 flat iron. Either I don't know how to use it or maybe it's not a good fit to curl my hair ( maybe I don't know how to operate lol). Please help. Thanks
- Asked by DeeDee
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertYou can use the 1/2" curling iron if your hair is an inch long. It might be harder for the curling iron to grip if the hair is shorter. If the hair is less than an inch long, try taking narrow sections with the flat iron and bending the hair as you release it.Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I have very thick, fairly long hair. I would like very loose natural waves/curls (more of a natural look than curly doll hair). What size should I go for 1 inch, 1.25 inch, or 1.5 inch?
- Asked by Smiley Eyes
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertWe recommend the 1 1/2" and reduce the time you leave the iron In your hair so it creates a lose curl. Was this answer helpful to you

- Q
It seems the thicker the barrel the shorter it gets. That's what I can tell by the pictures. Is that true? I have medium, below the shoulder bob. What size do you recommend? Sometimes I find it difficult to get all my hair in the barrel with the current 1' curler I have from Hot Tools.
- Asked by Verito
- Verified Reply - Staff ExpertActually, the length of the barrel is 4" on all of the models; the only thing that varies between the models is the barrel diameter. For your hair length, we think the 1" or the 3/4" should be perfect! If you've had trouble in the past w/ 1" barrels, go for the smaller 3/4". Enjoy! :-)Was this answer helpful to you

Hard to use
I consider myself a 10 for hand coordination, however, this product makes me feel like I have no coordination at all. I burnt my temple area and hand trying to use. Will return for refund.

Wont use anything else
I've used this curling iron since I was 13yrs old. Now 33. It's the only curling iron that curls my thick hair & actually stays curled. It is VERY hard to get use to using. I have scars from burns. So be careful & practice! You will end up loving it!
Love the Marcel Handle
It takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's easier than the the standard clip handle which is awkward to me now!! Plus, I think my hair for some reason holds curl better with the marcel. I had to learn this in beauty college many hrs ago and never forgot how!!
Not the best

I didn't know what a marcel curling iron was so thought it was missing the spring but after watching videos on how to hold my fingers, it's fun and I love it. Great quality, especially for price.
