What I love about the classic , original Chanel No. 5 is the unwavering quality , the constant classic, sense of style and class, the endless limits of versatility. Aldehydes that are airy, bubbly, effervescent , clean , can come off as soapy, champagne like, even have a fluffiness. The aldehydes p...ropel sweet tropical ylang ylang , rose , white florals of neroli and jasmine. There is a waft from time to time of a lemony citrus dessert . Fresh green patchouli , smooth sandalwood, mellow vanilla , and the "good grooming " note of oakmoss at the base. Powder aspect comes from iris , evoking vintage cosmetics of the eras gone by. No. 5 has the ability to portray moods and attitudes - from serious strength , to approachable warmth, it is of elegance , romantic , sexy , and can be perceived to being carefree. It can be a powerhouse , a fresh bouquet of sweet ripe florals, a citrus twist, soft and whispy, and / or crisp . It IS all of that. No matter of occasion , no matter of wardrobe choice, No 5 is all inclusive. Preconceived and narrow notions of being *ahem* Old Lady , Grandma , etc...should be put aside and in place an open mind , experience , a true wear through the expansive multi layers and dry down. Longevity is well into the next day. Sillage , well , I've known it to have huge throw, I've had it sit closer at am arms length or less. No 5 is what you make of it, and can also have a mind of its own ;)
