Pretty Good Stuff

It shouldn't be hard to find a decent high SPF mineral lip balm, but I looked high and low before stumbling onto this one. The few I found that weren't chemical SPF were drying, gritty, super expensive and / or tinted (that last one can be a plus or a minus). This lip balm is simple in both form a...

Super drying "balm"

Read a sponsored review so I purchased this balm. It is super drying and makes your lips crack and red. I used it for 2 days thinking that maybe my lips were just overly dry and I needed to reapply....I usually use Soft lips or Aquafor. I had to use Aquafor on my lips for 3 additional application...

Like it. I just had the Mohs surgery on my lower lip so I really wanted the sun protection in SunBum.

My lips are stoked

I'm super stoked I found this product. My derm said that what I thought were perpetually dry lips was most likely sunburn (#dyk lips are more sensitive than the rest of the skin). Even after learning this, I continued to use a drugstore 15SPF on my lips for years, up until I found this SunBum lip balm at a local surf shop. Love that it contains no harmful ingredients as I use it all day everyday here in Florida (I do a lot of research on this topic). Another bonus - my hubby will only use lip care that doesn't have flavor. Plus, 30SPF for lips is not easy to find. Thank you for making this lip balm. I subscribed to make sure I never run out.

Leaves a white cast when applied liberally

Overall I really like this lip balm. It's moisturizing and leaves my lips feeling soft long after applying it. It doesn't have a strong scent and it doesn't taste bad. My only complaint is that when applier liberally, it does leave a white cast that could be an issue for deeper skintones.

Not hypoallergenic

The first ingredient in this product is almond oil, but it is labeled hypoallergenic and you have to peel it open to see the ingredients in store. Fine ingredient for most people, but terrible labeling.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

I bought it because of the SPF 30 factor. The smell was nonexistent ~ I would like it better if it had a fruity smell.
