The right tool This works. It is a solid, well built tool that gets your hair smooth and how you want on the lowet heat (I am Caucasian and have fine hair with a light, unruly curl that has lost its shine). I thought irons were irons, I'd buy the cheapest thing and thought that was equal. I reached a plateau and I just couldn't get my hair to look good anymore. So after watching some professional hair stylists doing styles I wanted for my hair, I looked at what they were using - duh. They are ALL using more advanced tools but many were using Ion related ones. I work in tech and here I was using1980's styling tools and getting 1980's results (ever see an 80's movie? Yeah). I looked at the price and I'd seen even more expensive irons at Utla (that's a designated beauty store here in the west coast U.S.) and I don't recall seeing anything this size with ION capabilities or with the materials used in the barrel. I ordered mine online and had it in about a week. FIRST shot at a curl and I realized I've been styling my hair under a rock all these years. I'm over the moon about my purchase. This is really only 40 bucks or so more than the best tool you can buy in conventional stores/Amazon. This is THE BEST TOOL FOR THE JOB. It just slides through my hair too! That doesn't seem like a point that makes much sense...of course it slides through your hair, all irons are smooth etc..Not like this. It feels like it moves over your hair and the heat is distributed so much more gently..My hair looks and feels SO MUCH HEALTHIER. I don't write reviews but when this popped up in my inbox I felt compelled to share with someone who was also about to give up on their hair. Love the iron, best beauty tool I've ever bought.
Does not hold curl First let me say that I know how to properly use a curling iron both wand and clamp styles. I've been curling my hair for years. My hair can hold curl for days even if I don't use hairspray. I loved the idea of the long barrel on this curling iron so I picked it up. The curls as soon as it comes off the barrel are beautiful (they look like the type you see the Dyson air wrap produce) but within no amount of time it looks like I never even curled my hair. I'm talking not even a wave left. I let my hair set and cool completely before finger combing out. Today I did a test, I used my old cheap wand on half my head and the bio ionic on the other side. After a full day the aide I used the cheap wand on still looks curly and beautiful. The other side looks like I blow dried and did nothing else. I am almost wondering if something this iron is made with doesn't work with some peoples hair. I am going to look into it more. I'm still in the market for a new curling iron or wand. I have a few I want to try including the GHD oval wand and the hot tools (I believe they make a long barrel iron with clamp).
A lot of these reviews seem to be coming from bio ionics sight which is always sketchy to me. Most of the negative reviews are ones that do not come from their site.

Sensitive and painful, delicate hair would get caught in the clamp mid curl and then become incredibly tangled and hard to pull out. Pulled out many hairs on my first styling attempt.
You have to be careful to lock the temp otherwise your hand is constantly bumping into the buttons and changing the settings.
But the pinching of the hair trumps any other pro or con

This is by far the best curling iron I've ever purchased. It's giving me salon quality curls that last and when I use it, it doesn't fry my hair like others do. The quality of my hair is slowly improving because I use heat frequently on my hair to style it.

I have searched for a year or longer for a curling iron that will curl my thick medium to long hair....Ive tried the wavers, wands, the straightner curler combos but.....its been the long barrel I've been needing. I would buy it again and again.

I was shocked by the amount of bad reviews on this so I had to add mine - I have the 1 inch and I'm saving my points to get the bigger size - this curling iron is the best one I have and I have had a ton of curling irons in my life. It is perfect. It's very functional, I love that the temperature has a lock, the barrel is smooth and easy to use, the clamp is also easy to use, and it makes the most gorgeous perfect curls that last. I'm in love with this curling iron!

I wanted to love this curling iron but it just didn't work well for me. I have medium-to-thick hair that has always held a curl for days. With this curling iron, my curls fell flat by the end of the day which I've never experienced. It heats up quickly and doesn't snag the hair. The length of the barrel is great especially for long hair which makes styling efficient. I have to give it 2 stars though bc it just didn't lock in the curl like other (way cheaper) curling irons do.
