A Very Delicate Floral

Having the opportunity to try the entire Decorte collection has given me a deep appreciation for this J-beauty brands approach to fragrance. Kimono Yui, perhaps fittingly, has the most intimate sillage in the entire lineup. This is a fragrance entirely for the wearer, and unless you bathe in it, it ...will only be noticeable to others in very, very close quarters (think nuzzling). Scent: When first sprayed, the citrusy combination is bright and predominantly lemony (but not in a Lemon Pledge kind of way). As the fragrance settles, neroli replaces the lemon, and after 10 minutes of dry down, the cedarwood is all that lingers. I dont really detect any vanilla here, just a subtle warm note on my skin. Where Would I Wear It: Because the early burst is so bright, this feels like a late spring/early summer fragrance. The burst of fruit up front has a refreshing nuance, and I particularly enjoy it early in the morning while my body temperature is slightly cooler. This could easily be a go-to fragrance for everyday wear, and I think this could win over even those who dont consider themselves floral fans. Packaging: With its pink obi ribbon and feminine ribbed glass, Kimono Yui looks delicate and refined simultaneously. I especially adore the extra effort Decorte has taken to ensure that the obi ribbon arrives in perfect condition (each loop has a cylindrical piece of foam supporting its shape).Closing Thoughts: Even as a professional beauty writer, I rarely have a chance to try a complete collection of fragrances, and I am deeply thankful for this opportunity. As one of the most delicate offerings in the collection, Kimono Yui would make a delightful first EDT for a teenager and an equally impressive gift for a new mom.
