To open, insert pump into liter bottle. Firmly secure cap on liter bottle, twisting cap in a clockwise motion. To open spout, hold the cap on the neck of the bottle and twist the spout counter-clockwise until it pops up.

I tried to unlock both pumps that I got but i couldn't open it. Tried the tips I read here but it still doesn't work.

Then with one hand holding on to the base, use your other hand to spin the nozzle counter-clockwise (left) to pop up, this should do the trick! Not a question. A tip for if your pump won't unlock when you twist it. Screw it onto a bottle, tip the bottle and tap the bottom firmly. Kind of like tapping the bottom of a tight jar. Maybe it forces air into the mechanism or something. It's worked for all kinds of bottles like lotion.

Attach the pump to the bottle. Hold the collar aka the middle part and then twist… my husband actually used a tool to hold the collar in place and to keep it from moving…

How to pop open the pump
I've used this product a few times. Enough to say it works and does the job. Will it last longer than a few uses? I don't know. I will review this again if it does not. The only issue I had was when I first tried to open the pump. It's easy, but that's not always the case. You may find spending 10mi...

Need pliers to open/unlock
You need a pair of pliers to open/unlock the pump. Put the pump on your bottle of shampoo or conditioner. Make sure it's tighten down. Next step take a pair of pliers and grab the collar piece (the middle piece). Keep that tight. With your other hand twist the top piece to unlock it.

Absolutely defective and Ulta will not refund
I absolutely don't understand how these have any stars at all. They are defective and won't pop open. A total waste of money and Ulta won't refund them even though so many other reviews say they don't work. Total junk.
Wrench needed
I couldn't get it to pop out by hand. Even with time and patience. Came to the reviews for help. Finally grabbed a wrench & followed the instructions from a previous review. Held the middle piece in place with the wrench then twisted the pump counterclockwise. But like... I'm just a girl trying to wash her hair. Wasn't looking for a DIY project. I won't repurchase these.
pump doesn't work
I got 2 pumps an both are not working, they just don't pump one didn't even open.
