Q
Can I use this in the evening with the Retinol Serum?
Asked by New York Girl
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hi there! Thank you for reaching out about our Glycolic B5 Dark Spot Corrector. We generally recommend not using the Glycolic B5 Serum and a Retinol Serum at the same time in the same routine. Both Glycolic Acid and Retinol are powerful active ingredients that speed up skin cell turnover. Using them together can increase the risk of skin irritation, redness, and sensitivity. To get the benefits of both while protecting your skin barrier, we suggest alternating nights: Night 1: Apply Glycolic B5 Serum. Night 2: Apply Retinol Serum. Always remember to apply a broad-spectrum SPF the following morning, as both ingredients can increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun. If you have particularly sensitive skin, you may want to introduce them slowly to ensure your skin remains comfortable. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
If products turned brown is it still going to work or does the discoloration mean the ingredients oxidized and are no longer effective??
Asked by Rachel
Official Answer By La Roche-Posay - BE
Hi there! It is normal for serum treatments to darken after opening due to air and light exposure. Any change in color does not affect the product's efficacy. We hope this is helpful! Was this answer helpful to you

Why has the serum turned brown

Started working well lightening dark spots, however, it has turned brown and smells. Expiration date is 08/2025. I purchased 2 bottles and both have turned brown. Is it safe to use?

So being a skin care girly for some time I learned that glycolic acid helps with uneven skin tone. However, its a very powerful acid so it doesnt play well with alot of serums/acids. For people using this product heres some tips so that your skin doesnt burn, get irritated, or mess with your skin barrier.... use it only at night, do not mix it with any other acids such as lactic acid, AHA/BHAs, or niacinamides. It works well with ceremide serum, ampoule, and snail mucin. So its very important you read the ingredients of other products you layer with this. If you use this once a week or so you will see the benefits.

I used this product several years ago when my skin discolored after having kids. It worked really well and once I was happy with my clear skin, I use exfoliating scrubs and always sunscreen now. My face never got the brown spots back. Use sparingly, but often. Wash hand before applying moisturizer too. Dont get on eyelids.

It gave me dark spots around my mouth making me look older. I have melisma and this has made it worse and caused more areas to darken.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
