i noticed that there's a lot of gifted reviews, as someone else had mentioned in another personal review. so i want to give my honest review to help others. there's pros and cons to this tanner, but i'm not sure i will use it again. on initial application, the foam wasn't super dark, so honestly i ...was a little worried about how it would turn out. after sleeping in it and showering, the guide color didn't all come off in the shower and i was actually left pretty dark! i did it two days in a row and it left me looking super tan and it wasn't streaky. it also didn't make the pores around my cleavage look super dark. for reference i would say i have a medium skin tone on the lighter side, but i tan super easily and get very dark. at first, i didn't really look orange. but a couple days after, when i looked at my skin in the sun i felt that it definitely gave me an orange vibe. i asked from friends and they said i didn't, some said yes. in indoor lighting i think it looked fine but i think in the sun it was much more obvious. it stays on for a really long time though, it's impressive! and it didn't start fading right away. when it did, for me it wasn't the worst splotchiness. but you can't really gently exfoliate those parts to even it out because it's very obvious (i don't know if you can really do that successfully with self tan. i started using self tanner this summer but used a couple brands so i feel for the most part, i know what i'm doing. not extremely experienced though!). i will say the lasting power is really good, because when i finally exfoliated it off i was actually surprised to see that my one leg with the tanner on was still pretty tan in comparison to the one i had just exfoliated. also, i didn't have the hardest time exfoliating it off. i use the green korean italy towel, which gets self tanner off very easily. give it a try if it's hard to exfoliate off with other products. i will say though, not sure if it's because i had some leg hair, that even though i exfoliated it off it lowkey clung on in a weird way that made my skin look patchy and dry like some type of skin condition. it was obvious if you looked closely but not from a normal distance. when i waxed my legs (what i usually do) it all came off and my skin tone looked normal again. i do think it made my skin feel and definitely appear drier than normal, and i always put on lotion everyday even before i started tanning so i think it's the tanner's fault. something i absolutely HATED about this product is no matter HOW many times i would shower this product would get EVERYWHERE!!!! it was SO messy, it would get on my towels even after multiple showers and all over my clothing, it was something that really turned me off. i used a couple different brands of tanner and they never did this, but the tanologist was very terrible in this aspect. it was really annoying. just because of this, and that it kind of has a tendency to look orange in the sunlight, it makes me not want to use it again. all in all, it's not so bad if you want to try it especially since you can return it to ulta, but honestly you might have better luck with a different tanner. for me, loving tan ultra dark gave me a color much more similar to my real tan. beware of the tanologist getting literally everywhere for weeks after!!!!!
