For a natural look: Trace the lip line to create enhanced shape and definition. Use lip brush to soften and blend edges. Follow with lipstick, if desired. For a full, pouty look: Outline lips just over your natural lip line then thoroughly pencil-in lips. Use lip brush to layer on lipstick.
To sharpen: Because of the oil- infused formula, it's important to use a clean pencil sharpener with a sharp blade. Gently twist the pencil through the sharpener to create a defined point. After use, clean sharpener with a cotton swab to remove all excess product so it is ready for the next time.

Sick of wasting money
While I love the shade and have purchased many times, I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of the pencil. Pencil is difficult to sharpen and breaks easily, wasting a very expensive item. This is hands down the best lip liner I've used! It's creamy, goes on smooth, wears extremely well, and I love the colors (I have 4) especially the red. It lasts and lasts. HOWEVER, I have to sharpen it every time I use it and lose so much product doing so. I bought the EL sharpener specifically to use on my liners, but oddly enough it does not work on my EL liners but it does on other brands.

While I love the long lasting color of the actual liner, I am CONSTANTLY getting shards of wood scraping my lips. The pencil doesn't sharpen well or consistently. I lose tons of actual product just trying to sharpen the pencil, only to then scrape up my face. This liner needs to be in a modern plastic click dispenser like other eye liners. Sadly, it's a complete waste of money even though the liner itself is formulated wonderfully. :-(
