How To Use

  • Step 1: Shampoo your hair and dry it completely. Do not use conditioner or any additional hair treatments. Apply petroleum jelly around your hairline to prevent staining and wear protective gloves.
  • Step 2: Start with a base of Arctic Mist Diluter, then add a bit of your more pigmented shade to the bowl until you achieve your desired hue. Note: Deeper colors like Purple AF or Ritual can easily overpower your mixture! Be sure to add a little at a time when using deeper shades to create pastels.
  • Step 3: Once you see your desired shade in the bowl, perform a strand test with your mixture to check your results! If you love what you see, you can proceed to apply the mix to the rest of your desired area. If your result is too light, add more of your pigmented shade and try again. If your result is too dark, add more Arctic Mist Diluter.
  • Step 4: Once you've found the perfect ratio for your mixture, section your hair based on the desired look. For full coverage, work with small sections. If you're creating money pieces, section out the front strands. For a split-dye effect, part your hair down the middle.
  • Step 5: Apply the mixture evenly in small sections using the Arctic Fox brush. Leave it in for at least 30 minutes. For the best results, cover your hair with a plastic cap and use heat or blow dry for up to 15 minutes.
  • Step 6: Rinse your hair in cold water, making sure to keep the color away from your face.
  • Step 7: Style as desired, pose for a picture, and share your new look with us!

Helps hair feel soft & protected when coloring

I admit, I have not tried using conditioner to mix with my dye but I also want to make sure my hair color is coming out correctly. I like how soft Arctic Fox dyes and this diluter make my hair feel so I'll keep using again and again. I use this diluter with AF dyes, which I have pretty dark/strong p...

Um, just use sulfate-free conditioner instead..

Look, I LOVE Arctic Fox hair colors, but this is just a rip-off of the highest order. I literally have ALWAYS just used conditioner as a mix-in for my hair colors (purples, pinks) to tone it down, or to make colors of varying degrees from the same bottle for an ombre look. Also, using conditioner ma...

I bought this product to create a toner for my newly bleached hair! I looked up (and used ) a few different combinations for a diy toner and this diluted pigment and conditioned much better than the average conditioner it also mixed much better and the colors blended perfectly

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

it works great and is perfect if you feel like even the pastel shades are still too bright. Personally i add extra conditioner to mine (deep conditioning hair mask) because it helps the dye and diluter to go further. Ive colored my hair in both the periwinkle and the girls night but I had to dilute them beforehand after doing a test strand. I did bleach my hair to platinum beforehand, so if anyone is trying to do pastel shades please make sure your hair is as white as paper and deep condition!!

im so happy to have discovered ULTA carries this brand. I've been using it for years and its a lot harder to get at other places! as far as the diluter goes its one of my favorites because its super pink and really helps woth the custom color formulation and toning down their brighter shades. i mix mine with a few drops of electric paradise and a few of Violet Dream for a bomb pink color. i reaaaaaally wish they carried Frose too!

It's smooth just like the other dyes. Cruelty free and good for your hair with added conditioners. Add a little or a lot for a desired color. I'm so happy I discovered Ulta sells this brand now lol. I've used it for years.

I dyed my hair using "Violet Dream" by Arctic Fox and purchased this to go with it because I thought the color was a little to intense for me. This diluter helped me tone it down just enough to get the perfect color for me.
