Q
What is the "smell" everyone is talking about? Will it emit a smell during each time I want to straighten my hair?
Asked by Jesicakes

Hi, Thank you for your question on the Revlon Ceramic Flat Iron. The high performance heater in this unit contains an oil-based protective coating that will burn off during the first few minutes of initial use and may emit smoke and/or an odor. You may also head a humming noise during use. This is normal and is not a cause for concern. Thank you.Was this answer helpful to you
Q
In the instruction booklet it states that once you reach the desired heat, you should double click the on off button to lock it in. On my flat iron doing this shuts the unit off. Is my unit defective or is the instruction booklet incorrect

Q
I saw an answer that said it is not dual voltage. I looked at mine and it says 120/240VAC 60/50Hz and 80 W. I'm going to Europe soon, will it not work there with just an adapter?

Great for textured looks and curls

I use this every other day to do flat iron curls on low heat for a textured/tousled look. It heats up great and the heat setting buttons are placed where I don't unintentionally change them while using the iron. I waited three years for any company to make an extended plate 1.5" flat iron. Usually I...

I would not buy this product again

Okay so I'm not big on writing reviews, but I had to say something about this. I'm just another broke teen and I needed a flat iron for my mixed curly hair. I read the reviews and thought I found the perfect iron. Within 3 hours my hair began to curl again, and my hair smells like burnt bacon. While...

very quick and efficient except i definitely noticed over months now that my hair has become more and more damaged to the point where my natural hair doesn't curl anymore. also the smell is terrible, smells like burning rubber and cannot be masked

I liked everything about this revlon straight iron, except for the fact that the plates stick. Even with perfectly clean hair with no products, it catches when you run it through your hair. If you loosen your grip slightly you run the risk of your hair falling out of the iron. The plates seem to not have a smooth finish. Otherwise, I like everything else about the iron.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

I have used flat irons before and purchased this when mine died. The price was the deciding factor. I purchased in May and noticed after a few weeks my hair was braking and had fuzzy ends. I since have educated myself on what to buy. I almost cut my shoulder length hair! Oh, and the smell mentioned in other reviews is no joke.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Made me love straightening my hair again!

I had been using a travel sized one setting hair straightener, and I had basically giving up on doing anything with my hair. I finally decided to get a full size straightener and did some research. I didn't have a huge budget, and I read all the reviews on the similarly and slightly higher priced ones. I was nervous, as a reviews mentioned a bad smell. The first time I used it, I did a couple passes while my hair was still a bit damp and I immediately smelled what others had mentioned. I waited a while and tried again with dry hair. NO SMELL! It worked wonderfully on my long thick poofy hair. It was easy and painless! I am in LOVE with this product! 10/10, would buy again.
